Question about Yamaha MCX-2000 Digital Media Streamer (027108922959)

3 Answers

I have the backup disk for the Yamaha mcx-2000 music server, but do not have the instruction manual for it. With the mcx-1000 you run the disc and then unplug the power, plug in your new hard drive to the CD connectors and then while holding down the sub menu and page up buttons you reconnect the power to finish the operation. On the mcx-2000 though there are no sub menu and page up buttons. Which buttons need to be held on the 2000 while reconnecting the power to complete the operation? A copy of the backup PDF would be greatly appreciated.

I have the owners manual.... that does not include the backup manual....it is a separate manual called the backup manual or instructions in PDF which are usually included with the backup disk. That is what I need. I have the backup disk.... I need only the backup manual or instructions which is not the same as the users guide.

  • fxbill Jan 03, 2011

PS... I also have the service manual which also does not include the backup instructions. The backup instructions are in a PDF file simply called "backup Instructions" or "Backup manual"
Thanks for any help you might offer.

Sorry.... I had 2 replies to my question....both with the same owners manual and I'm not sure which of you I answered so this might be redundant. Forgive me if it is.
There are three manuals for the MCX-2000...
    1. The original owners manual... I have that
    2. The Yamaha factory service manual.... I also have that
    3. The backup instruction PDF or manual that goes along with the factory backup CD which allows you to change out the hard drive and yet retain your music. I have the CD... I do not, however, have the manual or instructions for the MCX-2000 backup... I only have them for the MCX-1000 and they are different. I need the one for the MCX-2000.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
For a Yamaha MCX-2000 Musicaster I am changing to a larger hard drive, but do not want to lose all of my music on the existing hard drive.
Yamaha has a Backup disk available and I do have a copy of it along with the recovery disk which allows me to install a larger hard drive, but wipes all of your music as well.
I have the original owners manual and I also have the Yamaha service manual and I have the PDF file for the MCX-1000 backup utility, but it is different than the MCX-2000 instructions.
The only thing I need is the PDF file or the Backup manual for the MCX-2000. I have all the other files and manuals.
The MCX-1000 requires a reboot after running the Backup CD by pushing two butons on the unit while plugging the unit back into AC at the same time, however, the MCX-2000 does not have the same button arrangement, hence I cannot use the instructions for the MCX-1000. I need the "backup" manual or PDF instructions for the use of the backup CD only and it's the only manual for both units that I do not have.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind Regards,
    Bill

Thanks, but I have the owners manual as well as the service manual. What I need is the Backup instructions which is a completely different PDF file. I have the backup disk....just not the instructions for use of it.

  • fxbill Jan 05, 2011

    Hi,
Perhaps you're correct although there is a PDF for the backup on the MCX-1000 that comes with the backup disk. I have the disk for the 2000 as well and true....you do have to hold down 2 buttons at once while you repower the unit, but that's the part that differs from the 1000 since the the 2000 does not have the same button arrangement as the 1000. I would think that there would be a PDF file for using the disk as there is for the 1000, but maybe not. I will call and ask.

Hi.

The point is that there is not such a thing as backup CD instructions in PDF format for MCX 2000.

Contact Yamaha if you want to check.

The only Tamaha MCX-2000 download available to users is the manual.
The service manual is not listed because it is not an user document (it is supposed to be distributed to techs only).

I know that the backup disk is an image of the MCX-2000 software. I think this will get reinstalled by starting the unit with the disk inside, in some case you have to hold a button. I suggest contacting Yamaha and getting the instructions on how to perform the restore. See: Contact Us.

Regards.

Ginko.

Where is the battery located in my Baldwin MCX-2000 organ

The only info I could find is-
"It also had some AA batteries in a small compartment
on the back for memory back-up."
If you go to this link and scroll down to the third message, you;'ll see someone offering the service manual for sale, which would have the info and would be good to have if you intend to keep the instrument.

I have that organ (trying to sell it on Craigslist) and have the manual. I can make a copy of it and mail it to you. Cost would be $10. Here is the Craigslilst link, where you can see a picture of the manual.. Baldwin MCX 1500 Electronic Organ Digital Keyboard Orchestra

I have a Yamaha MCX-1000 music server and the CD drive has failed. Where can I get a replacement?

I had the same problem. LOVE that Music Server. Icouldn't find how to replace the CD drive, since it's no longer sold. MyAV guy didn't have a fix either.

So instead, I'm using the External CD Input. I had a bunch of problems setting it up, but finally got the settings right and it works fine. But it doesn't grab the artist/song info so I had to input that manually. At least it's a way to add new cds.
We connected our external cd player via theanalog input. On the server front panel, make sure you have the sound level forthe "Analog Record Level" dial input (far right button on front) setto midway.
On the top menu (hopefully you're using a TV for this), go toRecording-Store from External Source. Choose "Analog" forInputs.

REC Type: SYNCRO: full auto. Then select "StartRecording". Then go to your external cd drive and start it. Onthe TV screen you should then see the green bars for volume, etc, and it shouldsay "Recording" at top right. You should also hear the music.

Remove and reinstall the Hard Drive for the error codes:

  • 2000-0151
Please see the Service manual for instructions on how to remove and replace the Hard Drive. Be sure to remove and reinstall the cables for the hard drive if you are on a Desktop Computer.
After reinstalling the hard drive re-run the diagnostics if you receive the same error code Contact Us.
Run the Drive Self Test (DST) from the Utility Partition also known as the 32 bit diagnostics to determine if the previous error has been corrected. If the DST from the Utility Partition does not indicate a failure of the drive, we consider the error to have been corrected and the drive does not need to be replaced.

Try loading the disc it came with. Most devices for use on computers have manuals on disc or online. Google its model number+manual if the manual is not on the disc.

I recently upgraded a server from server 2000 to server 2003.

I presume you did not do a full system backup of your Server 2000 system/boot drive before upgrading to Server 2003? If you did, just restore your Server 2000 backup. If not, then backup all your application data files and re-install Sever 2000 as if it was a new install. Then re-install your application and restore the data files.

Another possibility is to check with your application vendor and see if they have a version that works with Server 2003.
