Normally I would use a Q (blue needle) and some gift tissue paper. Hold both threads until you get going. I am not sure if just a ball point needle will do the same thing as the Q, which is a Sears product, or not. But it sure don't hurt to try it on a scrap piece of material and get the Q if you need it.

Whoops, I forgot to tell to stretch as you sew, and use a 1/4" seam for best results.

I would like to know what stitch number to put my sewing machine onto to stitch stretch material. I have a Elna 40 sewing machine regards Judy

Looks like stitch #06 might be a stretch stitch. You could probably also use a slight 08 or 09 zig-zag. Unless you are sewing something really stretchy (lycra) IMHO, a slight zig-zag is fine and actually is a lot faster than a stretch stitch which takes a few stitches forward and then one or two stitches in reverse. The stitch #09 is something that I use frequently for stretch fabrics.

Looking for free manual for Kenmore 12511. or instructions on how to a just machine to sew stretchy material

Sears carries a lot of Kenmore manuals, however, there is usually a fee. Have never seen one for no cost.

BTW--be sure to use jersey or stretch stitch needles (ball point) for knit fabrics. You probably should use either a zig-zag or stretch stitch so the threads don't "pop" when the fabric overstretches the thread.

HOW DO YOU ADJUST THE TIMING ON A KENMORE 15202 SEWING MACHINE

This may not help but www.sewusa have a couple of images for general timing repairs, link is
http://www.sewusa.com/Sewing_Machine_Repair/Sewing%20Machine%20Hook%20Timing.htm but it just describes the images for rotary and horizontal hooks.

You may need to track down a repair manual for your model, sometimes these pop up on ebay.

New to me. Threaded machine- started with needle in material. Stitched a couple of stitches and all the lights went on and buzzer went off.

Maybe, pull the material out of machine, and make sure that the thread didn't all jam in the bobbin area. If so, clean it out and rethread your machine, upper and lower. Now, put the material in again, but do not start with needle in the materal, make sure that it is in the highest position. Hang on to your threads, upper & lower, for a few stitches. If, your material is real stretchy or thin, put some stabilizer under it, or gift wrapping tissue paper under it. See what happens now. Good luck

Every 4 or 5 stitches the bobbin thread fails to catch the top thread resulting in skipped stitches

double check needle position and needle type. It will also do this on stretchy material, do to material catching on the thread

How do you sew with a double needle for stretchy materials? How do you thread needles?

You should have two reel pins on the top, thread the machine as normal and put each thread either side of the tension discs, do not have the stitch width more than 2 or 3 or you will break the needles. make sure you use stretch stitch needles.
