Question about Frigidaire GLTF2940F Front Load Washer

1 Answer

Frigidaire front load washer GLTF2940FS barely drains at all. Hose is clear of debris and properly positioned in house drain (6 to 8 inches). Is there a drain pump filter that is accessible from the back? Currently have the back cover of the machine off as I can't figure out how to get the front apart. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, there is a filter on your machine. If you look in from the back, on the bottom of the tub is a hose coming off. Remove the hose from the tub section and inside of it you will find the filter.

the hose is big and black with accordian folds along it. there are 2 ends to it. one is held with a tension clamp and the other (much wider) one is held with a clamp that screws. it is the 2nd one that has the filter. It was easier for me to access it by removing the 2 screws that hold on the front lower panel. they are at the very bottom of the washer. I would try this before you go through the trouble of removing the back. the hose is located closer to the front of the machine anyway.
also...why the hell do they make it so effin hard to get to a filter that may need to be cleared every so often?!?!!?

The newer versions don't have a front access panel. The front panel is in one piece.

Yes the newer has one front panel. But you are in luck maybe… There is an opening on the bottom which leads directly to the filter and the water pump. Careful the edges are sharp use 120 sandpaper to kill the edges.

    You are in Luck… if.
if the wire clamps can be reached using a vise clamp to free them. You should replace the green wire clamps with screw type hose clamps 1. ¼ inch.
Yes you will be doing this again.
Once you get the clamp to the front of the pump lose you will find strings and all kinds of leftovers, coins, hair clips. You can loosen only the large screw clamp on the top of the accordion hose, and dig out more trash , you will feel the plastic cup . wash is as best possible.
Replace the wire clamp and the new screw clamp and you are done.

You are not in luck. then remove the front panel.

You will have to free the front panel to get to the hoses and the water pump. To do this you need to take off the top.

Note … you only work with Phillips or x tip screws. Don not touch any of the hex 6 pointed screws.

Take the back screws off the top and pop the top free. Only take off two screws holding the white plastic front. Open the drawer for the detergent and press a button on the bottom left to free the drawer. Once removed there are 3 screws visible remove and pop the top off. No need to disconnect anything. Just sufficient room to loosen the 4 screws holding the front panel are located under the front control panel . Lay the washer on the side and remove the bottom screws. The lid pops off.. There is just sufficient space for you to disconnect the hoses and pull them out clean and re assemble. Reverse procedure to assemble and you are done.

Why won't my 4GLTF2940FS front load washer will not spin. It will go though a wash cycle, but when it is time to drain/spin the load it immediatley goes to No Spin, then shuts down. The water drains

Hello friend, I appreciate your post!
Based off the information you have provided if your Frigidaire washer is draining and rinsing but not spinning it could be an issue with your timer or motor. I would reset your appliance by disconnecting power to it by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker for ten minutes. If that does not work I would recommend having a technician out to the home to properly diagnose and repair the appliance, since it could be any one of these underlying issues. Hope this helps. -Matt

Filter replacement for frigidaire gltf2940es

Hello - The error code "E20" typically means the water is not draining properly or not pumping out fast enough. Does the washer making a humming noise? If so, either the drain hose may be kinked or the drain in the house is clogged. Once you have confirmed and cleaned the hose and issue continues contact a professional to move forward accurately. The unit may possibly have a faulty pump or control board.

Kenmore HE2 does not drain after first load.

  1. Unplug the washer to completely disconnect electrical power.
  2. Remove the bottom front service panel.
  3. Carefully reach up through the bottom opening and pull the release tab on the bottom of the door lock assembly until it clicks. NOTE: Internal metal edges in the washer can be sharp. Protective gloves are recommended for this procedure.
By pulling the manual release tab on the door lock assembly, you should be able to get the washer door open. After opening the door and removing the clothes, I recommend emptying any remaining water in the tub with a wet/dry vacuum (or bail it out). Since you already have the bottom front service panel off and the washer unplugged, you can arrange shallow pans and towels to catch any remaining water and pull the large item filter out of the drain pump assembly as shown in the second image below. You may find a clog in this area that is preventing your washer from draining properly. Clear any clog or debris from this area and reassemble the washer. Check your drain hose for a kink or clog. Check the washer house drain for a clog or restriction. Test the washer to see if it will drain properly.

Frigidaire GLTF2940FS...does not do a final spin/clothes wet

If water remains in the drum the unit will not go into the final spin. There may be a couple of reasons for your problem.
1.) A coin or other foreign object is blocking the drain hose. Check the drain hose for foreign objects impeding the exit of the water.
2.) The Drain hose is not raised above the machine outlet to create a siphon effect. See your manual for proper hose positioning.
3.) The pump is a third possibility which you should hear the impeller spinning during the drain cycle. There is a coin catch after the diaphragm of the pump that looks like a rubber boot that should be inspected for objects if you remove the pump. I believe the pump is about $60.00 and is accessible after removing the front panel under the door.

Frigidaire front load washer won't drain or spin

This often is a drain hose that is too low or a drain hose that has been pushed too far down inside the stand pipe....the water is actually siphoning out of the washer. Do not "seal" the drain hose to the house plumbing pipe, this will also allow the water to be siphoned out.

Washer wont drain and spin.

There are a number of considerations cited in the user manual which you can get at this website

Drain hose is kinked or clogged,The house drain pipe is clogged or cannot handle the flow from the washer.. Your pump or the line entering it or exiting it is clogged..

Go to this website and download the parts document Page 6 of this manual shows a filter (item 40) that protects the pump from debris.. That may be the root cause of your problem.. Hope this helps..
