This has happened several times and each time I thaw it out and run hot in the hose which flows freely to the drain pan. There has got to be something causing it to freeze up. It occurs about every 3 weeks now.

Something has plugged the drain tube, or has pinched it in the back rear of the fridge (yes the refrigerator is going to need to be pulled out so you can get behind it). Sometimes its just pinched on the rear bottom, othertimes something has gotten caught inside the hose. Sounds dirty, but find the drain hose on the rear of the fridge, after the frozen iceburg has thawed out, blow into/onto this hose. If you dont want to put your mouth onto the hose, alternative is compressed air. Hope this works! Please rate me. Good luck!

Thank you for your suggestion. This has happened several times in the last 3 months. After the line thaws, I run hot water through it and it drains freely to the drain pan underneath the frig. There has to be something else causing the problem. If the line was clogged or pinched, I don't think I would hear the water flowing freely to the pan. I can check it again but don't think that is the problem so do you have any other ideas or suggestions?

A lady that I know said that water was dripping into the refrigerator from the freezer. She said that this had happened a few times. The repairman said that this was being caused by the tube freezing due to the temperature.
(This must be a problem that is common in this model of refrigerator.)

The Thermostat (Cold Control) in Refrigerator is not shutting off the Frige and freezing the
drain from the freezer. Check Temps to verify. Freezer( not below 0 deg farenheit)
Refrigerator (Not Below 32 Degrees Farenheit)
Replace Cold Control or if it is digital call Parts house with your model no.
Thanks
Hope this helps

Kenmore elite - Water dripping from freezer to refrigerator

Your refrigerator has a defrost drain blockage behind the evaporator in your your freezer compartment. Some models like yours have leak in the turns as the water leaves the freezer. I recommend that you unplug and remove the cover to the evaporator and check the defrost condensate tray below the evaporator. A wet vacuum cleaner and poring a solution with clorox in the drain will help you clean locate the leak and where the blockage may be downline.. I do have the manual on yours and can help you solve this. Some times this is a factory defect and I can help you solve the freezing drain problem. Let me know, Sea Breeze

Water dripping from freezer onto top shelf of fridge with ice buildup back of freezer

the defroster isn't close enough to the drain to be effective. remove the back wall of the inside of the freezer, remove the excess ice. clear out the ice from the drain using hot water and a turkey baster. there is a kit from whirlpool that uses a piece of metal and a screw around the defrost rod, but I found out that a piece of 14 gauge solid core wire with the insulation stripped off works great too. stick the stripped wire into the drain, 2 to 3 inches, and wrap the rest around the defrost rod.

DRAIN TROUGH IS PLUGGED OR FROZEN. EMPTY FREEZER AND REMOVE LOWER TRAY TO SEE A HOLE ALL THE WAY IN THE BACK USUALLY IN THE CENTER. CHECK TO SEE IF WATER CAN DRAIN THROUGH BY POURING A CUP OF IT INTO HOLE. IF IT IS FROZEN POUR HOT WATER UNTIL IT THAWS, IF PLUGGED REMOVE THE OBJECT.

Food freezing in refrigerator and water dripping

The problem with the water is that the drain tube is plugged. The easiest way to fix this and to save money is to unplugg the refrigerator and leave the doors open all day. This will thaw out the drain tube without a service technician coming out. That will fix that problem. With it freezing the food on the where its not supposed, This may be a bad cold control. But try unplugging the unit for a day with the doors open and this may fix both problems. (i know it will fix the water issue)

Estate TT21AKXKQ Refrigerator Leak

sounds like you have a clogged defrost drain tube. removing back panel of freezer will give you acess to drain trough, melt away the ice with a hair dryer, youll find a drain hole under there somwhere, pouring boiling water down the drain will clear it pretty quickly( i use a steam machine purchased from the infomercials works awesome, after you clear it and all water drain down tube wrap a piece of solid copper wirearound the heater( black calrod heater right above the drain trough) and stick it in the whole maybe an inch or so. now everythime the heater comes on to defrost it will prevent the hole from freezing over
