This is not the solution. What appears to be wrong is that the driver for the sound card when switching from Vista to Windows 7 does not work What is needed I believe is a new driver that will work with Windows 7

This is not the solution. I am very familiar with these quick fix-its. The problem is much more complex than you might think. The Notebook is a Hp2133 which was originally operated with a Vista Operating System. Changing the operating system to Windows 7 requires either a new driver for the Sound Card or a patch that will make th sound card work with Windows 7. What I want to know is if there is such a fix and if so how can one obtain the patch or th new driver.

The Notebook is a Hp2133 and the sound card is ADI 984 High Definition Codec

That still does not work, looks like I will either have to get a new sound card that will work with Windows 7 and it might have to be an external plug in type sound card. Thank you for your efforts.

Seems like this unit support windows XP OS only. I checked HP site and its gives me XP drivers only. You may try windows vista drivers also for windows 7 since both are the same platform. Please see link below:

Depends on what Operating System you have; Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 (or 8.1). Also, what HP laptop do you have? does it have a built-in microphone?

My microphone not working since installed windows 7

Check to see if you have the drivers installed for it and make sure that you haven't muted the microphone somehow on accident. You can find all the acer drivers at there website, be sure to get the drivers released for Windows Vista for compatibility with windows 7.

So basically, i tried webcamming my friend thats in Germany, and she couldnt hear me, and i tried testing on my skype test call thing, and they said that my microphone on my laptop might be muted. I have...

go to Tools => Options => Audio Settings, see Microphone Volume, uncheck Automatically adjust microphone settings, adjust volume manually, test mic if green line showing up. To check if mic is muted, when calling contact in the calling window point on mic if it says Unmute microphone click on it, if it says Mute microphone it's already unmuted.

My internal microphone has muted itself. how do i unmute it

Look down at your task bar, click on the little speaker and it will bring up a window. Uncheck "muted". Or go on your device manager(control panle, system, device manager) and find your microphone. Double click and make sure it is enabled.
