Question about Kodak EasyShare M530 Digital Camera

I just bought a Kodak M530 and my computer does not see the camera. When I plug in the cable for my computer (the USB), the camera turns off. Do you have any idea why? Thank you.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

I lost my USB wire to put pictures onto my computer. Can i buy a new one in the shop that i bought my EasyShare M531 in or is there another method of putting pictures on my computer without the USB?

Buy a card reader for about £5. Remove card from camera situated in the battery compartment. Push back the little bright yellow tag and the card will semi eject. Fit card into reader. Push card reader into usb socket of your computer. There is no need to use a Kodak easy share or cable.(Are you sure you have lost the cable because this is attached to your charger until you pull it off!) If you have no other software installed for images there is an inbuilt one on your Microsoft system which will sense it automatically. Just click onto the 'window' when it comes up and the images will be installed. My Kodak camera is excellent but their software for installing is hopeless.
Good luck, Alan

How to charge on computer

Attach the small end of the Micro usb that came with the camera in the package to the camera.
attach the other end of the cable to a computer that is turned on.
A charge should not take more then 1½ to 2 hours.

Good luck.

M530 Digital Camera, how to charge it

Assuming you're referring to a Kodak M530, you can charge the battery in one of two ways:
  1. Use the supplied USB cable to connect the camera to the supplied adapter, and plug the adapter into a wall outlet.
  2. Take the battery out of the camera, put it into the supplied charger, and plug the charger into a wall outlet.
If it's not a Kodak M530, please reply to this post specifying the make of the camera.

My kodak easy share m530 does not transfer all the pictures to the computer. HOw can I transfer th left out pictures?

You can use a USB to Digital Camera cable or take out the memorycard in your kodak easy share m530 and use a external/internal card reader on your computer. If a screen doesn't pop up within 20seconds, go to My Computer > Look for a picture(drive) that hasn't been there before. Usually it would be like Drive I/J/K or something like that. Good luck and rate.

Can i charge my camera on my computer with the USB cable?

Yes, assuming the computer remains turned on and puts out enough juice on the USB port. Not all USB ports do so.
