Look for a short vertical hose on the RH side of the machine, about 9" from the floor. There is a circular perspex disc mechanism that moves this hose to a different position when you pull out the wand. On your machine, this hose may be stuck in that different position (so it will **** only through the wand). It should flick back to the other (outer) position when the wand is replaced (where it will **** only through the base). Put a little silicone grease on the moving parts around the perspex disc. This worked for me.

THE TOP OF THE HANDLE WHERE THE CAP IS, IS where the SUCTION is, NOT THE BASE.

Is this a Dyson by any chance? The suction changes to the base when you lower the handle. There is also a knob on the base that alters carpet or hardwood floor. The handle suction is for when you use the hose, with the handle in the upright position.

My Dyson 41 has just started only sucking through the tube

We've had our DC41 for 4 months now and suddenly noticed no suction at the base as well. Base motor works fine.Thought I'd take one last look before sending in for repair. At the base of the attachment hose near the motor is a small red tab. I depressed it and pulled the entire hose off the motor. Sure enough inside was a eyeliner pencil our daughter had unknowingly vacuumed up. I couldn't see it just peering the length of the hose. Even with a flashlight. You don't see mention of the small red tab but it allows you to see close up rather than peering down the hose if something is lodged near the motor. Apparently this pencil prevented the internal hardware to switch from wand to base suction when the handle is reclined in floor vacuum mode. These vacuums have strong suction and they will pull up the oddest things! Hope this helps!!

My bissell does not have any suction power. It sprays the formula but will not vacuum it up.

First check the motor duct gasket. The motor duct gasket is visible once the tank is removed. It is located underneath the handle on the top of the base of the machine. It has a black rubber coating around it. If there is no suction there please let us know. If your machine does have suction at the duct, continue to check the following:

- Ensure the Ready Tools Dial is set to the appropriate setting (Floor Cleaning or Hose Attachments).
- Remove the tank from the machine and ensure the tank lid is attached properly. The front window must first hook onto the lip of the bottom of the tank and then drape over the tank. Latch the bottom tank to the top tank lid. THIS LID CANNOT BE ATTACHED PROPERLY IF THE TANK IS NOT REMOVED FROM THE MACHINE.
- Make sure the Water Tank is not full on the outside of the bladder. If it is, empty the tank.
- Ensure the hose is firmly attached to the back of the machine. If not, re-insert as necessary by twisting into place.
- The machine must be in an upright, locked position and set to the Hose Attachment setting. If the handle is slightly tilted back while using, it will create a small gap at the suction inlet (where handle meets gasket, above the Bottom Tank) which will cause little or no suction.
- Check the red Tank Lint Screen for debris. If the Lint Screen is dirty, the unit will have poor suction. Clean the Lint Screen if necessary.
- If the float flap door in the tank lid is activating prematurely when you turn the machine on, this flap door should be replaced. This tank may need to be emptied.
- Check the Tank Lid and Tank for damage.

Suction when I vaccum the floor but not in the hose

remove the filter from the dirt cup and try again,if you have suction the the filter is clogged.the other is the intake hose that goes into the top of the base where the clear tube is.disconnect the hose from the base tube and take a coat hanger and bend the end into a hook.open the litte flapper door and stick the hanger down in the tube and see if you can pull out a clog of dirt.last but not least, disconnect the top hose completelyfrom the vacuum and see if you can blow through it.if you can't then the flex top hose is clogged.open the little flapper door on the top of the base and turn on the vacuum,if the intake hose isn't clogged then you should have suction.that will tell you that the broblem is in the flex hose or the filter

No suction from base or hose attachment

Hi,
I had the same problem with my Eureka vacuum cleaner. I don't have the problem with the beater bar, but I had the problem with the attachment hose not getting any suction. I found out that I was putting attachment on the wrong end of the hose. The end that you use in the front. Don't how I got that confused because it always worked before. Hope this helps with the hose part of the problem.

Dyson dc07 animal bagless

You probably have a blockage somewhere in the hose or in the base where the hose goes in. Remove the plastic tube at the base of the hose by simply unclicking it and remove the obstruction.

Can't get any suction through the hose.

you will see a tube coming out of the top of the base.thats where the hose attaches.but before you putthe hose on turn on the vacuum and see if you have suction at the tube coming out of the top of the base.also check and see if the brush roller is turning when vacuum is on.there is a little door you have to lift up when you attach the hose.hold the door open and attach the hose.i hope i was of some help to you.please leave feedback

Eureka Enviro Vac Model 4470 Not Sucking

First, check to see if there is suction without the hose on the base. If not, and there is no blockage, the problem is likely a damaged impeller, the small fan that makes the suction. That will have to be replaced.
