Oki C3200n Says Order K Toner after install

I've just installed a new K toner & drum and the display still says "Order K Toner".

On printing the menu map that tells me there is over 91% life left in the toner.

Is there any thing I should be resetting and how do I do it?

    WTF I want to print but is says I have no toner but i do.

  • Anonymous Jan 13, 2009

    I replaced the K toner but it still tells me I need to order K toner. Menu tells me the toner is still 15% this is a brand new cartridge - should I get out a hammer or is there a solution to this problem??? Tried taking out toner, shaking it back and forth, etc. No change. Really wanting to smash this worthless piece of $*&^%# right now.

    Same problem. Did you ever find a solution. I am thinking I may have received an empty toner cartridge.

Two possible problems:
1. You actually got a partially empty new toner. This has happened to me once.
2. The sensor on the printer is dirty and not seeing the toner. With the toner there is a little wipe that says it is for cleaning the LED. There is an LED sensor that "reads" the presence of the toner. If this is dirty it will think there is no toner cartridge.

    Partially empty new toner... it happened to me too. Crazy from an OEM, but it happens.

NEVER BUY OKI PRINTERS AGAIN

Posted on Sep 09, 2008

Did you try removing the toner (careful to have a plastic bag under as some toner will spil), then move the toner left and right horizontally to re-distribut the left over toner) and try to print again. This worked with my toner.

Msg says Drum Unit Life Order K Toner but my K Toner is at 90%.

The drum may have an electronic counter installed and after so many pages being printed, even though it is still good, it will determine that it is time to replace. You may be able to replace the electronic counter. If not, you will need to replace the drum.

OKI C3200, status monitor windows 7

Hey, it took me hours, but this is indeed the solution:
http://my.okidata.com/PP-C3200n.nsf?opendatabase

Install PrintSuperVision Asistant and you have all you need.
You can see how many pages you have printed, how much of each toner and drum are remaining etc.

THE PRINTER HAS STARTED EATING THE PAPER WHEN PRINTING, BUT THE ERRROR READS AS "TONER SENSOR ERROR"

I would remove all toner/drum units and the transfer unit (under drum units). Remove paper tray and look very close for any paper pieces or other objects blocking the paper path.

I called the OKI help number, in the manual, and they told me that the second line of the error message, was just an additional reminder, to replace the magenta toner.

Replaced K toner and machine is telling me there is no toner in it.

There are sensors along the inside right wall that tell the unit if there is a K cartridge inserted. Usually what happens is that due to a toner spill, the sensor LED is covered with toner and or is bad . Hence it does not see the K cartridge. This happens mostly with the black or K cartridge. Get some compressed air and lightly shoot some into the hole that corresponds to the K cardtridge. Only in the hole, do not spray the air anywhere else in the printer.
If this does not clear it up, you would need to replaced the sensor board which is held in with 12 springs!
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

No toner message

The control panel display will indicate which toner is out;
K = Black
M = Magenta
Y - Yellow
C = Cyan

Also, the orange indicator light will flash.

Generally, each toner will provide about 1,500 copies depending on the intensity of the specific color. The toner drums, on the other hand, generally provide more than 20,000 copies each and need not be changed that often.

When you change a toner, included with the toner is a little alcohol wipe that you use to clean the toner sensor. This is a small LED located along side the toner holder. Make sure ALL toner waste/dust is cleaned off the sensor before installing the new toner.

Also, while I hate to state the obvious, make sure you removed the tape from the new toner before inserting it. Last, make sure you lock the toner in place with the blue lever. And it never hurts to shake the toner a little side to side before inserting it just in case the toner has gathered at one end.

Last, there is a utility included with the printer that lets you access the printer's information via your computer. This will tell you exactly how much toner is left in each cartridge and the life remaining on the drum.

Okidata c3200 - "needs new drums" message

Check your page count, drum life on a C3200 is roughly 15000 pages. This information can be found on the information menu map.

Information Menu ecblank.gif ecblank.gif dot.gif ecblank.gif Menu Item Default Setting PRINT MENU MAP EXECUTE Prints the MenuMap (menu listing) with current settings shown. Information about your printer is also
shown at the top of each MenuMap page.

Life Expectancy ecblank.gif ecblank.gif dot.gif ecblank.gifToner Cartridge
Life expectancy approximately 1,500 pages, assuming about 5% coverage, which means that 5% of the addressable dots in an image are printed with this color of toner. See Toner Cartridge..

Image Drum
Life expectancy approximately 15,000 pages, assuming an average of 3 pages per print job. If the average print job is longer than this, the image drums could last longer, but if the average print job is shorter, then image drums will be used more quickly. See Image Drum.

Transfer Belt
Life expectancy about 50,000 letter-size pages. See Transfer Belt.

Fuser
Life expectancy about 45,000 letter-size pages. See Fuser.

OKI c5100 Printing GREY instead of BLACK.

Not able to print a status page. Tried holding down menu 5 sec and no output. I searched the menu and am not able to find how to print status page. I did print out a demo page and the black is great but when i print out text (like the entire menu map) the black is grey. Let me know if there is anything else I can do.

Smudgy Prints

Never touch or clean drum surface, they are higly sensitive.

If as I suspect what you are seeing is toner not being cleaned from drum properly, these drum units have a rubber blade that wipes the drum as it passes it, some non oki toners are very abrasive and wear these blades out, sometimes the rubber is effected by heat or age, some after market drums use inferior cleaning blades in drum construction.

Are your 4 drums and toners the OKI genuine ones or did you purchase aftermarket/refurb/recycled?

Wiping the drum has probally scratched it's photosensitive surface.
