This seems to be a typical problem that is affecting the motherboard of the 290. Try to reset the bios using the Jumper J1 situated under the memory modules in the memory expansion bay. Just short circuit the J1 pin with a screwdriver for few seconds and the bios will be resetted.
This procedure have been reported to work sometimes. If nothing is changed, then usually substition of motherboard is required.

You may try this fix. No guaranties though. Remove the battery and unplug power cable. Then hold down the "power" button for about 10 seconds. After that plug it back in and try turning it on. Again, this may NOT work but it has for others.
If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LED flashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow my instructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen
I find sleep mode nothing but trouble, eventually corrupts window files over extended use, go into power options, go to stand by and select never and click apply, next go to hibernate "top right" and click, make sure the check box is clear, if not! remove check and click apply and restart your laptop.
Hello, this problem can mean the processor is faulty. Normally when the processor gets faulty or destroyed the light blinks but doesn't come on at all. I suggest you take it to the tech department for diagnostics.
Hope this solution is helpful.
Have a wonderful day.
You should fully disassemble the laptop & thoroughly inspect its inside. Look for any traces of water on the circuit boards & on other components. On circuit boards, water damage appears in the form of whitish traces. These needs to be wiped off. This can be done using a tooth brush moistened with few drops of hand sanitizer liquid. Check all internal connectors & make sure that no water seeped into them. Dry them if needed. When you are done, re-assemble back the laptop. If the water fell on the keyboard & you found out that the keyboard is no longer working, then you will have to replace the keyboard.
