Is your System software up to date? Little things to check. Have you got enough Hard drive space? Have you had any troubles using the computer lately? last have you run CS2 on this laptop?

    Regards

What is the processor speed on your powerbook? It needs to be 1Ghz or higher. CS3 will not run on a slower machine. That could be the issue.

It is possible you have a power supply failure. My MDD was doing the same thing unless I reset the PMU. There is a tutorial here on checking the PS - D275729F-09DA-4FBB-96B3-BEEEB2C04619.html It for a MDD, but I would think it would be useful for your situation.

How to repair PowerBook G4 Power connector

The PowerBook G4 is a Mac laptop, which was popular before the launch of the new MacBook. But the cable for this computer is not much different than cable in many other notebooks. These cables can break down over time, mainly because of the shorts in the wire. These problems can be solved by opening the line.

1. Turn on the PowerBook and plug into the outlet side of the unit. Insert the end of the column with a free exit.

2. Look for the short circuit in line with the thumb and forefinger along the length of the cable and secure it temporarily. When the light emitting diode light at the end of the adapter starts flashing, you'll notice that recognize the short debate.

3. Unplug the power cord and your computer and use your wire cutters to about an inch from the sheath instead of short takeoff and landing runways. Make sure you cut the wires of the real.

4. Turn the frayed ends of the wires short to connect.

5. Pass the ribbon around the vaginal opening, completely covers the exposed wires.
Mac Powerbook G4 won't (completley) start and won't turn off

All you need to do is a System Repair. You have to boot the Mac with the CD/DVD (as if you were to install the OS X again, but when you get the desktop, you are given options to repair your current installation. (Follow the instructions on screen). It will take about 20 minutes to complete (depending on your processor speed).

MAC G4 won't boot - Blue screen appears

Hi Sorry to hear you are having troubles,You will need a firewire 400 cableOK, first thing you must do is reboot the eMac in TARGET mode, this means it will be recognized as an external disk. To get the eMac in TARGET mode, you must be sure the eMac is turned OFF and has a functioning keyboard connected.Power on the eMac and very very rapidly press the ( T ) key on the keyboard, be sure the caps lock button is not pressed. If all goes well, you will see the firewire logo appear larger than life on the screen.( If you are unable to get into TARGET mode, it is highly probable that the mother board of the internal hard drive is damaged and preventing the eMac from entering TARGET mode, sorry, that's the end of the line..)Once you enter TARGET mode on the eMac, connect the firewire cable to your G4 PowerBook, you can do this either while it is running or when it is off and then turn it on.
You should see the volume of your eMac internal hard drive appear on the PowerBook desktop...sometimes you need to open Disk Utilities and repair or mount the drive manually. If this all works well, copy the required files directly to your PowerBook...After that, power off both machines, disconnect them and reboot the eMac using a CD or DVD to reformat and reinstall a new system.

My imac g4 isn't reading the dvd/cd drive at all

it won't read it because the new os disk is double layered and the g4 drive you have probably won't read double layered dvds. best solution is to buy or borrow an usb external dvd drive. i did this last week and it worked fine.

Leopard won't install

Found this on the net:
http://www.brad-x.com/2007/10/27/howto-leopard-install-with-giga-designs-g4-upgrade/

Those upgrade cards always have given me a problem with migrating to Leopard. If you can upgrade to a used G5 or even Intel basd mac you might be more happier with less hassle.

Unable to upgrade to system leopard on my eMac

With software and computers changing constantly-I use older software for older macs. You will continuously run into problems dealing with new software and old computers. See if you can find older versions that still run great rather than the creative suite. Stick with earlier system software as well. Now days 640 for memory is not much because of the increase in software space use. You can also allocate memory to certain software you use most.
