Do you own this computer? And if so, can you look on the back or side for a sticker that is called the service tag #. It is about 6-8 digits long and may have letters and numbers. You see each PC is a bit different. I can look up what you have from the service tag as I and many others here are registered techs with Dell.

Hello.
If want to see your installed devices go to:

Start - Control Panel - Double click in - System icon - Hardware - Device Manager.
You will find the graphics card under:
Display Adapters, just click on +.
Or click on - Start - click on RUN, type DXDIAG , click ok - if is your first time running dxdiag click ok till you get to the dxdiax window then click Display, there you can see almost evething in your system.
Hope this help.

The graphic card could most likely be dead. If when you turn on the computer, you hear a series of beeps, either long or short, it could be a boot error code. Writting down the sequence could give further explanation of the error.

You don't disable it in Device Manager: reenable it immediately. The correct steps to replace the video card:
1 - you uninstall its driver and reboot at least twice.
2 - You install the new card, plug the Monitor in it and reboot at least once.
3 - you enter in the BIOS and disable it in there, and only in there, and you reboot at least twice with a check in the BIOS that it has remained disabled in between.
3 - you install the new driver.

OK, I am curious how are you going to install a new graphics card without installing a new graphics card? "picking up and image from the CPU is there anything i can do to install a new PCI graphics card with out having too install the new graphics card"

You can install a different graphics card in the computer assuming you have an open expansion slot. If the Current Graphics card is actually installed in the AGP slot open the Main CPU unit and remove it then install the new card. If when you started the computer you saw anything on the screen, the DELL logo or Bios setup, the problem most likely is not the graphics card being bad but possibly that the settings in windows some how changed and it is set to something it can't support or the monitor has gone out. If it is the graphics card and it is built onto the motherboard you will have to install the new card and when the computer starts enter the Bios to change the BIOS settings to disable the on board card or it will give you problems with conflicting resources. Most graphics cards use the same resources so two cards in the same computer will conflict with each other and neither will work. I would test with a different monitor before replacing the graphics card.

Ack graphics card wont fit in any input slots

the adapter u are using is pci express and the dell dimension 9100 are not compatible.. try returning it for either a pci (usually the white slot) or AGP which in most cases is brown.. the AGP will be your best performance.. if return is not an option.. then it seems that a new pc is in your best interest.
