I have a Viking VSM700 mixer that worked one day and was put under the counter. Next time it was brought out, it did nothing. No smoke, no noice, nothing. Any ideas?

On mine, one of the two brushes was NOT advancing to hit the motor armature as it wore. Had no power. Had to take unit apart to get to motor. We spread the metal brush holder slightly with a screwdriver and allowed the brush to slide so it can make contact with the armature. Motor now works fine. Shame on the Viking Company for dropping the ball on this product!!!

My Kitchenaid Mixer Model KSM150Ps is tripping my breaker after replacing the speed control board.

Try a different Receptacle outlet if it trips that breaker you know its the mixer, and there will prob be a short/loose connection somewhere

My Kitchenaid mixer's power switch is jammed...

By pass the switch and put it on power strip and turn on/off with strip. Or just replace the ****** switch. Or just bypass switch and plug and unplug to turn on and off.

The KSM150PS 325W mixer does nothing until speed control is moved up to position 8 or 10. Then when repositioned back down to say 6 it may run for a moment but then stops. It might just click on position...

You need to adjust the mixer speeds. Obtain a copy of the KSM150PS Repair Part List from Kitchenaid.com. Remove the screw holding the End Cover and locate the three screws from the Control Plate. All three (2 top left and right, and 1 bottom) must all be adjusted. 1. Loosen the lock nuts enough & Turn the 2 top screws clockwise until they cannot be turned
anymore. Leave the bottom screw alone for now.
2. Use a dab of white paint or paper whiteout to mark the positions of the Phillips screws.
3. Plug in your mixer and Set the speed selector to "Stir".
4. Turn each top screw One full turn couterclockwise (alternating between Left and Right)
Keep making one full turn at the time (for both left and right) until the motor starts running.
5. Put your hand near the Agitator shaft and allow it to brush your finger slightly. Use your
watch or clock and start counting the number of times the shaft touches your finger in
60 seconds. The correct count should be 60 RPM (Rounds Per Minute). If it is less
or more than 60, give each screw 1/4 turn counterclockwise or clockwise and start counting
again. Now tighten both lock nuts.
6. Set the speed selector to "6" and turn the bottom screw either clockwise or counterclockwise
to achieve a speed of 180 RPM.

For your reference, the planetary RPM's for the 5-qt. tilt-head Artisan Stand Mixer are as follows:
Stir speed - 60
Speed 2 - 95
Speed 4 - 135
Speed 6 - 180
Speed 8 - 225
Speed 10 - 280

Do I have to unplug it to turn it off (and plug in to turn on). In the off position it moves.

if it is still moving in the off position -- then the switch is bad. you can remove the top and inspect the switch for a loose or broken wire that could be making contact with the rail. if you are not that handy then you can take the mixer to appliance repair shop and they will be able to fix the switch for about 25 to 35 dollars ( maybe less if it is just a loose wire ).
I have this same mixer here at my place and it is a great mixer,, pretty die hard,, it should give you many years of trouble free mixing.
NOW I was thinking that it almost sounds like you might have just bought this mixer and it is new -- if it is brand new -- I would take it back to the store that you bought it from and tell them the problem you are having and just replace it,,, also check the warranty time on the unit and the manufacture might be still responsible for repairs(??).

My daughter's Kitchenaid Artisan 325 watt mixer had a malfunction last night. The unit itself is less than 3 years old. It had been running on high for approximately 5 minutes when sparks began to fly...

Sorry cant solve this but mine did the same. Mine is almost 4 years old now. Have you found out what the problem was with yours? Have you sent it back? Nicky.

Hi, when I turn my kitchenaid artisan on the mixer is not registering properly and is making a whirring noise but not doing anything - sounds like a fault inside - what do you suggest? Thanks Michelle

It sounds like the worm gear has failed. It is quite common when the mixer has been used to try and mix something it cannot move in the bowl:

Kitchen aid mixer

It sounds like it is the Control Switch. call up KitchAid and tell them what happened. Seems to be a common problem with them.
