Do you have CD? Start>Control panel>Add Remove and uninstall it. Restart computer. You have to use the "lan" cord with the cd to install it. Reset your cable or phone modem by the back reset switch. Install cd and follow the directions that cam with it in exact order or you have to remove it again. Do not hook it up to your internet modem until instructed to do so. Linksys does have a 1-800-326-7114 customer support line to help but if you do call them make sure you have it completely uninstalled.

What are you trying to connect with ? A laptop? What kind? What OS are you using? If it's connected correctly and you can access the internet with a Ethernet Cable attached to the Netgear and the computer, it may be a computer wireless issue.

Try a hard reboot. Unplug it and wait 30 seconds then plug it back in and wait another 30 seconds. This can sometimes solve the problem with routers.

Best of luck

If you have a router, and your PC is fairly new, AND if it's a laptop, you can either plug in the router to it, or just run the disk that came with the router or your broadband connection company, and your laptop will find the connection. It's much nicer to have it be wireless. Use the router disk. You'll need to have the Network name (like "Mom's PC" or something) and the network password. We had a problem with ours too at first, & it made us do several things over & over til finally it suddenly just worked. Are you using a disk to help install it? What did you try to diagnose it with? Windows or the router or a disk? Can you give us a bit more info, please? Also, you can probably just call the broadband company or the router company, and ask them to walk you through getting it going. I have Qwest broadband & they're great about helping.Or the router company will be also. Hope you find a way. If not, come back & tell us more & we'll be glad to try again. :)

Lost Install Disk

You don't need the install disk to use the router. If you plug in the router and press the reset button on the back of the router, the you should be able to connect to the network using only the windows wireless program.

Wireless router

Router setup
You do not have to use the cd.
Go to the control panel and un-install the program that the cd installed. then:
Shutdown your PC. Unplug the power from the router and the cable modem.
Wait 30 sec. then plug in the power to the cable modem, wait 30 sec. then plug the power to the router. Wait till you have "Internet" light then restart your PC. The PC should pick up an IP address and you should be able to get on-line. This is if you have a cable service provider. If you have DSL, the router needs to be configured with PPOe.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Asuming you are knowledgable about hooking up broadband i will guess that you know for a fact the its a good connection on the broadband routers side and there is actuall internet access and the problem is with your laptop.

If so then make sure you have the right installs.

get into your start menu at the bottom left> hover over settings>click on network connections and wait for the window to open. Right click on " LOCAL AREA CONNECTION" and select properties.

The little box should open showing a scrollable menu and say " Local area connection Properties" at the top. Make sure in the list of installed Items, you have at least the TCP/IP internet protocal installed and add version 6.

Also you can try cycling the power to your internet broadband router. Hook up the laptop, turn it on and log in, If you have a router that you are using to branch off your broadband to several computers, then unplug, wait 30 seconds and polug back in and it should register. If you are plugging directly into the Broadband router, cycle the power on it the same way.

Also make sure you are plugged into the right port on the router:)

Hope this helps.
