I got a new computer with Windows 7 and downloaded a driver for my hp 3210xi printer. I am trying to print a 4x6 picture but I can't seem to access the photo tray even though I have indicated to use the photo tray and appropriate size paper - the printer only wants to use letter size paper.

Can't download and install printer driver HP Deskjet 1220C for window 7

There is no downloadable driver for this printer. You just need to update the Windows 7 list on your computer with the latest update. Here are the instructions from hp:

The drivers for your HP product are already included in the new Windows 7 operating system! You do not need to download drivers to use the product . Simply connect the printer to your computer with a USB cable, and Windows Update automatically installs the driver for your product. With the in-OS The driver located in the Windows 7 operating systemdriver, some of the buttons on the product do not function and some of the advanced product features are not available. For more information about your in-OS driver, and to see workarounds for lost functionality, go to our Frequently Asked Questions below. Install the Windows 7 in-Operating System (in-OS) print driver When you connect your printer to the computer, Windows 7 detects the hardware and automatically installs the correct driver. A notification lets you know when installation begins and when it is complete. You do not have to download any software or insert the product CD. Step one: Install the in-OS driver Follow these steps to install the in-OS driver in Windows 7. NOTE: The computer must be connected to the Internet for Windows Update to detect and install your product.
  1. Turn the product on.
  2. Connect the USB cable to the printer, and then to the computer. Figure 1: USB cablec01704933.gif NOTE: When you connect the USB cable to the printer, and then to the computer, Windows 7 activates Windows Update. Windows Update searches online for the most recent product driver on the Windows Update site. If the online driver is more recent than the driver stored in Windows 7, the computer downloads and installs the updated driver. The Windows Update process takes place automatically. Therefore, you might not notice that the process is in progress.
  3. Windows 7 detects the hardware and automatically installs the correct driver. A notification displays on your computer to let you know when installation is complete.
Your basic Windows 7 driver is now installed. Some functions might not be available, but you can use workaround procedures instead. See our Frequently Asked Questions section below. Step two: Print a document Print from any software program to make sure your printer is working correctly.
  1. Open a document in the software application in which it was created.

I can not print. An "E" displays where the number of copies should be.

It seems that the issue is with the driver of your computer and it is not letting you print. You can therefore download new upgraded set of drivers from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=90764&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us
Once downloaded, try to run the downloaded program and uninstall your printer using it and restart your computer. Now run the downloaded software once again and install your printer. It will now work fine. Remember do not uninstall Printer's driver from Add/Remove Programs (Winodws XP) or Programs and Features (Windows Vista and Windows 7).
Enjoy printing once again.
Cheers!

I have a HP psc 2355 all in one printer and it is connected to my desktop pc with xp and connects through the network to my laptop that is windows 7. I have one problem that I cannot figure out...when I...

When you select paper size, are you doing it in the "Printing Shortcuts" tab or the "Paper Options" pane of the "Paper/Quality" tab?

On the "Printing Shortcuts" tab, the options available in the Paper Size box vary according to your selection in the "What do you want to do?" box. If you select "General Everyday Printing" it will not show paper size options for photos, postcards etc. However, if you go to the "Paper/Quality" tab you should be able to select 4x6, 5x7, 8x10 etc.
