Read the question again. I didnt say "Print Hammer", I said THE SOLENOID (and gave the part#). It's not firing. It's dead.

I measure 3.3 Ohms on the solenoid and about 2.4 volts when typing. Anyone know the proper Ohms for the 1339328 Series 1 solenoid ? 3 Ohms sounds low to me. It draws .7 Ampere at 2.4VDC
UPDATE Oct 19, 2016: (those reading above are normal)
OK so I originally tried adjusting the head. I replaced the print cap (which looked OK but I figured maybe was worn down a bit), no luck. I then replaced the hammer even though I was not convinced of an issue. That did not work. I then took my time and slowly adjusted the striker adjustment (where the hammer touches) and that solved the problem. These machines are work horses and the answer is usually simple. Like mine was just an adjustment. All said, it learned a bit about this and hopefully now others will to. There is minimal information out there on the inter-net. I guess most folks are not using typewriter any longer.

Not likely that you need a print hammer. You may need a plastic print solenoid cap. We sell them for 20.00 includes shipping and instructions.

Unless your pint hammer CAP is cracked or severely worn you probably do not need that EITHER. $20.00 for a piece of plastic is just crazy. try adjusting the hammer on the opposite end of the plastic striker. It works.

Your print solenoid probably has a broken cap. There are some companies that sell the "kit" with instructions on how to replace the cap.

Where is the TYPEWRITER SOLENOID on a IBM Wheelwriter 6 Series II

The "print" solenoid is what hits the hammer that hits the printwheel and makes it type on your paper. If you remove the ribbon and look straight down in the carrier on the left side you can see the solenoid. It is below the blue piece of rubber that sits on the hammer arm. The end of the solenoid is supposed to have a cap on the end of the plunger. This cap gives a specific clearance so when it is activated, it hits the hammer arm to propel it forward to strike the printwheel.

Show me where the solenoid is on the IBM Wheelwriter 10, Series II typewriter

If you are asking about the print solenoid. Remove thr ribbon, below the ribbon just inside thr L. printer frame. It's about an inch & 1/2 in diam. and about 3/4 inch thick and silver.

Wheelwriter 30 series 2.

Put in a multi part form and type if the print is good on the carbons the problem is ribbon or ribbon lifting, if the print is poor the print solenoid cap is probably cracked. We sell the cap with instructions and shipping for 20.00.

Check in the area where the printwheel is installed for paper or other debris. If it does the same thing with the printwheel out then it is probably a printwheel sensor.

Get a new laser printer, or even inkjet. They can be had for under a hundred bucks. It'll cost you that to get someone old enough to know what a wheelwriter is to come and look it...
