Question about Malibu ML200RT - Low Voltage Power Pack -200 Watt - With Timer - Plastic Ho

1 Answer

The unit is working and keeping on schedule, but is making a loud ticking noise. The noise eminates from the metal gear box containing nylon gears. Lubrication w. silcon spray did not help, Can the gear box be purchased separately?

Question posted under Malibu power pack.
The clock module is not sold separately.
Use white grease or vaseline to lubricate gears.

Opener makes a lot of noise

The sounds can be coming from your internal gear that has started to go , open the cover and check for nylon shavings from the nylon main gear , if this is the case replace ! If that's not the problem then you can always take the metal cover off and line the metal housing with electrical tape ,this will keep the metal on metal contact from the housing and the cover from making metal vibrations that will also cause the unit from sounding lioder then it is! Hope this helps sincerely Glenn

Manual Transmission loud metal noise 5th gear doesn't work

check the drain plug magnet for metal bits . If any the box has to come out 4.th gear is straight shaft connection and 5 gear connects from the cluster shaft up to the out put shaft . On either side is a rear main bearing and from your description if that bearing is failed then the 4th gear syncro will not align properly and the gear for 5th will be out of alignment so the syncro to work will not work

I have a 1995 nissan pickup the transmission have a metal to metal. 5 sp manual 4th gear is but all other are ruff, with u let out on the clutch.

A lack of gear oil in the transfer case or gear box will make shifting and gears become ruff then destroyed within a few hundered miles, sometimes much much less. Unless this truck has had a history of bad shifting technique I have found these trucks and gears to be extremely reliable. If the clutch makes a loud wirring noise when engaged and disengaged ther may be a bearing problem. Check the U joints in the driveline. Bad U joints would usualy result in a lot of gear box twisting and jerking when starting out but diminishes with speed.

Speedo gear keeps sheering nylon pins since rebuild

Two things:
The actual speedo cable is binding/rubbing and causing quite a real load on the nylon pegs causing the shearing affect.

OR

they migh have put wrong gear or damage existing metal gear which then damages the nylon. Think of the nylon as being a sacrifical item...just like a fuse. It is telling you a bigger issue is at hand and the nylon is the weakest link so it goes first.

Loud grinding noise Toshiba 1550

It is one of three problems,
1- the developper is starting to go bad, unfortunately with toshiba it is a common problem the seals go bad in the unit the gears are very hard to turn giving a loud grinding noise, although you can rebuild the unit by changing the seals, it's VERY messy and they don't always work ( after spending all that time cleaning and changing the seals and gears and it didn't work, I just started to change the DV unit.) Test by taking out and turning the gear by hand, if you need a plier to turn it, it's bad.
2-the toner itself is a problem, take out the toner and look at wherre it sits there is a gear that turns the toner to feed it in the machine, if it's dirty and has toner it will make noise, test by taking out toner and close machine, does it make the noise without it?
3- cleaning section where the drum is, this is what turns to feed excess toner into the small pastic container, aggravating but not a mechanical problem. And also check the fuser ( where it gets hot)

I think I've covered everything for that machine.

Good luck
