Question about Kenmore Washing Machines

1 Answer

I have a 3-4year old Kenmore Elite HE3t front-loading washing machine model 11045966404. We discovered that it is leaking water into the drip pan during different cycles. Some basic troubleshooting discovered that the door seal (sears part 8182119 ) that seals between the wash tub or drum and the body of the unit has a huge hole in it, perhaps 12 inches long. I can see that significant quantities of wet lint and debris has been entering the body of the unit, so it would seem this has been going on for some time. Looking further, I discovered that several socks and other laundry items have escaped the wash drum and are residing in the bottom of the unit. So source of the water leak is solved. Now what to do? The basic part that requires replacement appears to be around $100. Assume there are more associated parts that require replacement as well, and double that to $200 then add maybe $200 for labor. $400 to fix the unit is a big chunk of the cost of a new unit. My fear is that the moisture, lint and debris that invaded the body of the unit may have damaged more components and this unit will continue to fail and attempting to repair will become a money pit. Are my fears on a valid track, or are the insides of these units capable of handling a fair sum of moisture inside? Many Thanks, -Jason

We experienced the same thing. I was able to restart and locate the noise to the water pump. After disassembling the water pump found the impeller shaft sliding out. For some reason this shaft will not stay in place. Had to order a complete pump assembly as the electric motor is not available.

Got a Kenmore Elite HE3t Front Load washer from my old man, hasn't been used in 5 years... sat in my basement for the first month i lived here unhooked and unused... FINALLY, got a dryer, hook everything...

A burst hose or a broken hose connector clamp most likely. Open the back after disconnecting power. Use bright flashlightto see where its dripping from and confirm the hose-clamp is brokem/ open or a connecting hose is burst. Carry broken hose to hardware store like Rona for a replacement tubing, cut to size and re-instal, voila!

Kenmore Elite HE3t Front Load Washer leak from dispenser

I was just about to call the service teck when I decided I shouldn't be this stupid and try and fix it myself.

I took the tray out and looked in with a flashlight.
Saw nothing.
Cleaned the tray and then checked the drainage hole inside the opening where the tray normally feeds the machine the soap.

I found a inside of the liquid XXXKing laundry cap partially blocking the drain.

Took it out and works fine.

Kenmore elite washing machine spin cycle slow. The clothes are still dripping wet when removed from the washer.

In my HE3T, this was indicative of the water pump going out. In its 8th year, my HE3T is now on its 3rd water pump.

Kenmore Elite HE3t door leaking (Model 44936)??

If the unit leaks during use with a constant drip from the 6 o'clock location between the seal and the glass on the door the solution is to change tha door seal. it is quite difficult to do I would recommend you call a local service company.

Kenmore elite washer model 20952992 pouring water

We had the same problem. The bleach dispenser tray is located on the drum below the bleach storage pan. The dispenser tray has very small holes that were plugged by rust from the hose clamp that attached the dilution water supply hose to the bleach storage pan. I removed the top of the washing machine to discover the problem, but it may be solved by attaching a flexible tube or small hose to the end of a vacuum cleaner hose and cleaning out the dispenser tray. There is room between the dispenser tray and the storage pan and is located in the front right corner.

Kenmore HE3t water fills by itself! with door open too! doesnt always drain fully

If you tip the machine back at an angle, you should see a clear plastic sausage shaped thing with a plastic tube coming from it, you will need to remove the plastic thig (pressure vessl) and clean it out.

Washer tub slowly fills with water

Is your problem a SLOW FILL problem, or a problem with WATER DRIPPING FROM THE RUBBER DOOR SEAL - or BOTH? If you have a slow fill problem, this is generally caused by a bad fill valve, which can be attributed to hard water deposits or well water mineral deposits. Sometimes the fill valve can be removed, cleaned and reinstalled, but most of the time a new fill valve is required. If you are experiencing water leaking from the rubber door seal (bellow), it may be time to replace it. Sometimes the seal can develop a wrinkle or crease where it meets the glass, which can cause leaks. Water dripping from the door when you open after washing a load is normal. Water dripping during a load is NOT. The bellow may also have started to rip or tear inside the door which may not be noticeable until you pull the folds of the bellow back and look underneath it. I hope this helps.
