Question about Philips Televison & Video

Open Question

To whom it may concern, I've just bought a SRP2008B universal remote control, and connected it with both of my tv-s (the connections work just fine), but when I tried to connect it with my Motorola cable box and QVision (QV-521) DVB-T receiver, it doesn't seems to work. The guide doesn't even have a code for QVision brand, so I tried both of the nearest options from the guide, which were codes for "Vision" and "Quandra Vision",with no luck at all...So please, would you be so kind to mail me either different codes, or some other way to solve this problem because I've already tried everything said in the user manual.. Motorola VIP1910-9 cable box does not work with the Motorola code given in the user manual. Thank you in advance, sincerely yours, Rea Ezgeta

Your TV is made by Daewoo and is distributed by Daytek. If you call the 800 number on the warranty card you will reach Daytek.
So, what you need to know is this:

#1. A lot of new products won't have a website available. That does not say anything to their quality or the company, just that you've bought a new product and you're one of the first purchasers.

#2. A lot of times if you buy a "no name" TV, you're actually getting components inside the TV that are made by brand name manufacturers. For example, "Prima" uses LG panels in some of their plasma TVs (as well as Daytek). How do I know this? Because I'm the authorized service provider for Daytek, and Prima and quite a few other "no name" TVs, and I've been working on LCD and Plasma since they came out, as well as having worked in the electronics repair industry for over 20 years. I own an Insignia 42" LCD and am quite happy with it.

#3. Most new products that have remote controls will not have codes available for them no matter what brand of universal remote you buy. You have to wait for the people who make the universal remote to have time to make a code for this new brand of TV. This can take up to a year for cable companies, and cheaper universal remotes may never get the code. Expensive universal remotes may be able to have their firmware updated through the internet, so adoption of new codes for new products may happen faster.

#4. Stores like Walmart and Costco are excellent places to buy products like this because they usually have a "no questions asked" return policy if you get the TV back to the store within the stores time limit for returns (some stores are 15 days, some are 30 days, phone the store and ask them). I had purchased a 40" Digistar LCD TV from Walmart what had a flickering problem, I took it back the next day without any problem at all. Then I bought a 42" Insignia Plasma TV from Future Shop that I wasn't happy with. I took it back 3 days later and had no problem at all. As long as you know the stores policy for returns and follow the policy, you won't have any problems either.

#5. Try to avoid buying big-ticket items from smaller stores unless you know their return policies. Some smaller stores will not accept returns on LCD monitors, TVs or plasma TVs but instead require you to handle any problems through the manufacturer.

#6. Best bet it to call Daytek and ask them if they know of any universal remotes that work on that particular model.

SOURCE: Remote Control Codes don't work with my LCD TV

There is no code!!! -- Solution...You have to buy a universal remote with learning capabilities. I’ve ordered one that will not only learn off other remotes but can handle 10 components also. I got it from 10x it’s called the iconRemote control…if you call the company they will give you a discount (but you have to call them and ask) AWESOME!

My 502 Apex remote stopped working, can i use a universal remote instead and if so,what code do i use?

It's always "hit or miss" with universal remotes. You never know which ones will work with your devices, and if the remote will control your device's features even when you've managed to make a connection. Why not purchase an Apex remote instead?

I have a soniq 42"

Ah, the old universal remote isn't so universal anymore is it? Most "universal" remote controls were designed for the old tube type television sets. There are some seriously nice universal remotes for new flat screen TV's, but most of them are pretty pricey. The only reasonable flat screen universal remote that I've found (that actually works) is the Vizio HDTV Universal Remote. It's about $25, and believe it or not ... Wal-Mart carries it in the store.

I have just purchased a PHILIPS SRP2008B/86 universal remote controller, I have tried a few times by following the instruction book. Is there anything I didn't know?

I found it worked when further away from the TV and DVD player I was trying to program. Too close and it did not work at all. Make sure you turn the device off then on before putting in the access code.
