You may be better off going to google and search "riccar 2910 manual" That way you can follow their detail dorections rather then someone elses and it confuse you. Usually the PDF versions have pictures with it :-)

How to thread the bobbin

Are you trying to thread the bobbin for winding or for sewing?

For sewing, make sure the needle is fully up and then release the bobbin cover plate. Insert the bobbin so that the bobbin rotates counter-clockwise. Pull the thread through the slot at the center-front of the bobbin case. Hold down the bobbin with a finger then bring the thread to the left and through the slot on that side. You should here a clicking sound when you pull on the thread. Leave 6" of thread free and replace the cover plate. Refer to the manual (page 12) for pictures.

Many Singer sewing machine manuals are available for sale or download here: http://www.singerco.com/accessories/instruction-manuals . The direct link to the manual for the 2662 is here: http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/429_2662_efs.pdf . See page 11 and 12.

If the bobbin thread isn't feeding, clean the hook and surrounding area. Then with the presser foot down, retry. If you aren't hearing the clicking sound when the thread is pulled, you may need the bobbin tension adjusted. There is a small set screw for the adjustment but it's really easy to damage the threads. If you still have a problem, the bobbin case or shuttle race may need to be replaced (See http://parts.singerco.com/CPpartCharts/2_2999/2662.pdf for the parts breakdown).

I hope this helps.

hi there,
on my manual 1581 kenmore show figure on how you thread your bobbins and upper thread.
to thread bobbin insert the thread on one hole of winder holding thread and rotate thread on counter clockwise rotation several times, loop the thread on tension thread and insert bobbins winder on winder shaftat top of your sewing machine push the latch to lock bobbin winder
pull the handwheel to disengage the clutch and to move the winder free rotation.
press the foot pedal to run your winder and thread your bobbins be sure on counterclock wise rotation.
if winder is full of thread this will automatically disengage the shafting winder from clutch.

Tighten the bobbin

Welcome to FixYa!

Are you having stitch problems? If this is the reason you are wanting to "tighten" the bobbin, then you should reconsider doing so. If you bottom stitch is the problem, then messing around with the bobbin is the last thing you want to do.....

Sewing machines are funny machines and counter intuitive. When people see problems with the underside stitch they automatically assume there is something wrong with the bobbin. In fact, the bottom stitch is created when the bottom thread interacts with the top thread.

The bobbin really doesn't have an adjustment and rarely goes out of whack. It's best to leave this alone unless you know what you are doing.....

So what....IS the problem? There are really only two things that seriously affect the bottom, in general, that is the tension setting (the little dial with numbers on it) and mis-threading the machine (make sure you are following the thread path exactly (sometimes it's not easy to figure out, so have someone else try it. Sometimes a fresh perspective will help you see what you might be missing).

Good luck and Thanks for using FixYa!

Please assign a FixYa Rating if you are happy with my solution.....

Elna sewing machine

Amy,
did you solve the problem with your Jubilee?
I would suggest that the problem may be not holding the two threads at the back of the needle plate with starting each new seam. Elnas really need you to hold the threads, don't let the tail get caught and pulled back into the bobbin holder area. Once you have one jam, you'll have minute threads you maybe can't see caught under the ring guard (black bit) and the jamming will keep happening. Also, make sure you only use Elna bobbins always with holes on the top.

If you've still got the Jubilee and are having issues with it, feel free to add more info, the other contributors comments about the bobbin being faulty are valid but I dont think your machine is worn out, just jamming. You can remove the bobbin holder yourself and clean underneath it and once you've done it once, and know how to line it and the ring guard back up, its pretty easy and will ensure that the bobbin area stays clean.

Bobbin tangles up thread and jams machine

Hi, Is it your bobbin thread or the top thread wrapping around the bobbin. I just got a used PE150. The top thread keeps wrapping around the bobbin. It is not picking up the bobbin thread. Did you find a solution for your problem?

Threading my bobbin and correct tension

If you go to this link, it shows for the 117.591 model, but it is threaded the same exact way as the 117.959, that will thread the machine and bobbin, I have used this to thread my machine which is the 117.959, and it sewed perfectly until I started messing with the tension, I still haven't figured that part out yet, but I will and when I do, I will let you know. You should be able to thread the bobbin correctly with the manual, if you are pulling the bobbin through the hole the needle is going down in, your bobbin is threaded correctly, if the problem is like mine, your not making stitches, the problem is with the tension. I hope I have helped and if not, sorry.
