Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

We salvaged a Goodman outside unit HDP24-1B and an inside WM25CR from one of our renovation projects. These were the best looking units from about 10 total in a Church we converted to daycare. The HVAC subcontractor tried to install the unit in our guest house and is having trouble due to no wiring diagram. He said if I find diagram he can hook up. All is done now except running wires from the inside unit to the outside unit. Can you help? After all this I hate to throw units away. Thought we could get a few years use. The outside unit has a L2, L1, COMP, RV, and 0something (can't read it) to hook up to. We assume the L2, and L1 are the hot legs from breaker. The inside unit has a 3-wire cord coming out of it with a green/yellow, blue, and brown wire that is cut. I assumed this went to outside unit. The small diagram on back of face shows a wiring diagram of 5 wires that go from the inside unit to the outside. It matches what appears to be where we tie into on the inside unit. Those wires from left to right are labeled 4WV, OF, COMP, N, and a symbol that has a yellow/green wire on the top. Thanks, Bill

    Heatman,

Thanks for the comment and the Goodman site. I've just sent them an inquiry.

We thought the tech that was sent out could get it but since the units are fairly old they have stumped him. We are 50 miles out of City limits so I'll try to get wire diagram for outside unit and go from there. Thanks

Hi,
I have watched this question site here for days and as far as I can tell you have not received an answer to it...

The problem is that the scope of this question is way beyond what can be effectively communicated...with out the proper wiring diagrams ... these do not seem to be available on the net so I think that you would be better off to contact Goodman directly and get the wiring diagrams sent to you.... or hire an experienced A/C tech. to do the work for you...

If I was there hands on I would wire that in a day for you... but to do it over the net with your hands would be foolish and dangerous...not to mention extremely time consuming...and frustrating so both you and me...been there done that!!! :-)

I have a Goodman CPE30-1AB (Outside heat exchanger), with a Goodman (air blower) as well. Air blows inside, but not cold. Outside unit is not turning on at all. Can you please assist?

check your breaker or fuses at outside unit. verify you have 24 volts feeding outside unit replace outside unit contactor if you have the 24 volts and not starting.

Where is fuse for 5 ton goodman package unit heat pump

Im assuming you mean the low voltage fuse? In that case its located on the circuit board inside the electrical panel on the unit. If looking for the high voltage fuse (breaker) you should have a disconnect outside protected by a breaker inside at the electric service panel (breaker box).

Outside unit doesnt start inside unit is working

This model of Goodman A/C the condenser coil get extremely dirty and what happens is when your condenser runs for a long period of time it pops the capacitor. This is the starting component for the compressor and the fan outside. the coil needs to be cleaned with a non acid condenser cleaner. Open up the side compartment of A/C look at the silver cylinder thats the capacitor if is looks swelled replace it.

It sounds like you are low on charge. I think you have a thermostatic expansion valve and you need to check the subcooling, you should have 12 to 15 degrees at 95. At 95 degrees your head should be about 280# for a 12 or 13 SEER unit or higher depending on the effeciency. At 78 to 80 degrees indoor depending on the humidity, that is normal. The valve will open to try to fully feed your indoor coil and it sounds like your head pressure is to low to force enough refrigerant thru the coil.

I have a goodman airconditioning unit, I have my AC set on 75 inside. the unit gives excess water outside the unit and floods my yard..is this normal? any fix?

your unit shouldnt flood your yard .. now check your unit to see where your drain from your unit ( inside)is going .. if that is going outside where your unit is then there is where your water is coming from..

Where is fuse located on goodman ckl60-1 ac unit?

I'd be surprised if you had a fuse in either the outside or inside unit. Typically the fuse(s) are mounted in a gray electrical box (on the house) near the outside unit.

You can usually - easily see the fuse box but if you don't just follow the electrical conduit from the outside unit - to the fuse box.

good luck!

Goodman air handlers (inside unit) fan have a delay timer that turn on the fan ,sometimes up to 3 minutes after the outside unit is on,this makes the a/c more efficiency.

Not running outside

You may not be getting power to the contactor to the outside unit. Look for broken wires. Usually small in diameter. Dogs and critters love to chew on them.

Good Luck and hope this helps.
