Try to put that micro sd in its adapter to fit the a certain digital camera, or high end Nseries phone , it will reformat that and erase the file. by then you could use it again.

I downloaded the contents of my Tascam DR-05 to my computer because it was full, but, instead of doing it as always, by just downloading the soundfiles, I copied the file folder dr005 to my computer,

Eric have you tried to do a "Quick Format"? If I'm not mistaken when that is done, you re-format your card and the small memory in the DR05. I had trouble with mine at first but when I did the formatting after I put the bigger 2GB memory card in the DR05 worked great. I record on "All Files" too, that seems to work well also.
Hope that helps,
Patrick

Need to know which memory card adapter is compatible with my laptop

If it doesn't fit into your laptop then you probably need some kind of adaptor, rather than trying to find the exact one you need, the best thing to do is to just buy one of these:
http://www.ebuyer.com/429750-sweex-card-reader-usb-black-retractable-cable-cr180-cr180
Then you will only ever need this (it was one of the cheapest I could find) I have had a similar one for years.

Please can you tell me if an SD card called SD Ultra 11 66X 2GB will be read by a standard SD card reader

Yes, i t should be unless it is a SDHC Card which it should not be as SDHC cards have minimum 4 GB capacity. For more info:

The older SD (secure digital) cards had a maximum capacity of 2GB. The SDHC (secure digital high capacity) cards can go to 32GB. Devices that support SDHC will say so in their specs and they will also read older SD card. Older devices that use SD cards will NOT use SDHC.

"SDHC (Secure Digital High-Capacity) cards are flash memory cards with a minimum capacity of 4GB (gigabytes). SDHC cards provide removable memory for compatible digital devices including cameras, camcorders, PDAs, MP3 players and more.
