Hi,

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

Doesn't dry

Drying consists of removing moisture through heat and airflow. Check to make sure that your venting tube is not kinked somewhere and therefore not allowing the air to flow freely from the dryer.

LOW HEAT, SLOW DRY

  • Hi Jim,
The first thing to check is the filter is clean and not blocked. The air travelling through the dryer is what carry's the water vapor away. The Lint filled filter will block the airflow resulting in forever to dry anything if at all. The second thing to think about is a over full tub of washing to dry will have the same effect as that blocked filter. Two half loads of washing dry faster that the same amount altogether in the same dryer. Last but not least, check that the intake or exhaust is not blocked with fluff or that the dryer is not right up against the wall effectively blocking the flow of air.

These points are general to all dryers Jim. They are not specific as you have only recorded a fault and no mention of Brand age or model.

    Good Luck

    Regards

    John

Dryer getting hot but not blowing hot air out

Unplug and stop using sounds like a fire hazard, try cleaning out the lint filter and replacing the exhaust hose, and make sure your homeowner policy is paid, hope this helps,

Dryer wont stay lit

if the flame is liting most likely problem is bad air movement.go outside with thedryer running and check the hood to see how strong the air is blowing out,if there's a cage or anything blocking the hood remove it,if the vent line is a long run remove the vent line from the back of the dryer, stick a leaf blower into it and blow out the lint to the outside.also with the dryer unplugged, remove the bottom panel, remove the lint filter and metal duct the filter slides into, clean that out and blow out the blower wheel with a shop vac,you can blow out the gas tube where the flame ignites to make sure it's clean blow off the motor and the cabinet and vac up all lint that blows forwards.you can try running the dryer with the vent line removed to see if it runs any better.when the dryer first heats up the flame will come on until the temp. is reached and it will shut down, one more thing to check, when gas coils start to fail you'll have heat for like the first 15 to 30 minutes, then when the coils heat up the ignitor will glow but no flame, after the coils cool down they will work again.how are you running it on timed dry or more or less dry,if you run it on auto or more or less dry there's a sensor inside where the lint filter is,try cleaning it up or try running it on timed dry to see if it runs any different, when on auto the heat comes on,when it reaches temp. the heat stops and the timer will advance, when it calls for heat the timer stops and the heat comes back on,it will do this until the clothes are dry.your model has an even heat board in it that can also cause problems but if the flame is liting it sounds like you have a block somewhere.go here this will tell you a little more about your model dryer.

Hi,

If your dryer is not drying like it once did or if you just have nottaken the time to give yourself a clean dryer in a long time then youneed to do that. At least once a year the dryer cleaning should takeplace. Lint build up in the dryer duct is one of the main causesfor your dryer to fail.

Clean light keeps blinking and I can't start a new cycle

Puppa, clear the fault by pressing the keys in this order: high temp scrb--air dry--high temp scrub--air dry. Or, depending on your model..Sani rinse--air dry--sani rinse--air dry. The dishwasher will enter the service mode. Let it do it's thing or advance it through it by pressing the start key. The fault came from the board not sensing a rise in the water temp. Make sure to run the hot water before starting the dishwasher. The heating element runs through the nuetral side of the door switch so make sure the d/w is level and the door switches are all making. The element itself could be at fault. Catriver...post back
