When a Sanyo XU range is powered uop, the first thing that is scanned by the uProcessor are the fans. If one is not turning, because the old lamp exploded and the glass is stuck to the blade, the standby lamp will just flash.
Check all of the fans.

I have checked the 2 fans and they both are working properly. Is there anything you think could be making the standby stay on? Thanks!!

I have had a look at the XU30 service manual which is very similar and when powered up, the periferals are checked first being DVI Board, Input board and temperature sensors. If all hand shakes are successful and the start button is depressed, the fans start and the ballast fires the lamp. It then looks for lamp start, if the ballast fails to start a signal is sent to the uProcessor that halts the system and it returns to standby with the flashing indication to inform the user there is a problem.
Unfortunatey, I suspect if the fans are OK and not jammed, the ballast unit is most likely the next fault. That must be replaced as it has no serviceable parts.
Hope that helps you to fault find.

One thing to check is that the ballast control plug is seated correctly as are the edge connectors connecting the DVI boards and LCD units.

I put a new bulb in a sanyo plc-xu73 projector still no light how do i test the bulb to make sure its not bad

There's no test equipment for DLP lamps.
The only way to test the lamp is with a working projector.
I am a Tech many times, I can tell by a visual inspection.

If you purchased a cheap lamp, or from someone beside a Sanyo dealer then, you may have a bad lamp.

Sanyo plc xu115 new bulb wont fire. power light turns green at first but after a few seconds it turns flashing red. the old bulb exploded on this projector.

Could be a burnt capacitor on the circuit board. Replace capacitor if you can determine which one it is. There are only a few.

did you get the bulb from sanyo, or from another company that sells aftermarket bulbs? some of those are cheaply made and malfunction shortly after if they work at all. find your reciept, take it back and get a new one.

Sanyo PLC-XF46N projector shuts down before powering up completely

The Fix Ya rep suggested that I try the "Reset" button located next to the Audio out on the side of the projector; this solution proved to be the fix I needed. I was able to get the lamps to warm up and get into the menu to cut back the bulbs/power consumption on start-up, allowing the projector to function for a problem-free 4 hour period Unfortunately, I had the same issue this morning, but the same fix worked again.
