Odors from gas fridge

Unfortunately, your gas man was largely correct. At higher altitudes you need to reduce the gas flow to compensate for the thinner air, and therefore smaller quantity of oxygen. Eventually, you reach a breaking point, where there isn't enough gas to run the appliance. However, it is entirely possible that, while he had the theory right, he was incorrect about not being able to make this work. If it still smells, you need a smaller orifice. Whether the refrigerator will work with a smaller orifice, I don't know. If you really want to give it a try though, make sure that gas line is off and remove the orifice that's on there now. Then take it to another gas repair man (I'm sure you can find one in the phone book) and explain the problem. If he can get a smaller orifice, you're in business. If he can't, it's likely your gas man was right and there's nothing you can do.

We know that it ignites..because it sparks....but our hottub does not heat up. The display reads "REMoff" and the temp of 76. What are we doing wrong??

Raypak is notorious for dropping debris on the ignitor and clogging the gas orifice. Unscrew the pilot tubing from the gas valve (7/16) and remove the screw just below the burner tray (on the right) to remove the ignitor bracket. Remove the pilot tubing from the ignitor, and you will find a tiny cone shaped orifice inside (be careful not to loose this).Use a needle to clean out the tiny hole which feeds gas to the ignitor (it is very small). Be sure to blow out the pilot tubing, clean up the ignitor, and after you put it all back together,be sure you have the gas turned on. If you are on propane, be sure you have 30% on the tank, and that the valves are open.

0ne burner won't ignite, there is no spark from the igniter on the burner. How do you diassemble a burner unit?

Hello- These burners can be difficult to disassemble. I would first try an brush the ignitor, electrode, with a wire brush if it is blackened just be careful not to crack the ceramic. Also, make sure that the burner cap is on correctly, it will not spark if the burner cap is not positioned correctly. In order to remove the burner you have to remove the Ventrui tube, this is the bronze nut with the tube attached that is in the center of the burner. You will need a 20MM socket. If you can get the venturi out the burner will pull off. I believe on this one you have to take off both burners in order to remove that section of the cooktop. Be very careful no to force the nut because if it starts to turn but is not actually loosening then you are turning the orifice holder underneath and can crimp or crack the gas supply tube to that burner. The problem with these is that they often do not come out and have to be drilled off and then replaced along with the orifice holder that it screws into under the cooktop. Now, if the problem is occurring on one of the burners that has the extra low simmer (the ones that you can set to come on and off at an interval) then you will probably need a Potentiometer kit which replaces the switches and the spark module. Unfortunately it will probably be best to have a Tech out who is familiar with Thermadors and their particular issues. Sorry

The burners on the left side of my burner tray do not come on? Getting out the burner tray seems difficult. What should I do?

Has water from rain or sprinklers gotten on the heater? Sounds like one of the following:
  1. Plugged burner orifices
  2. Plugged burners
  3. Low gas pressure
  4. Bad gas valve
  5. Poor venting
Your best bet is to remove the burner tray. It really isn't that difficult. Follow the owners manual. If you do this yourself, be sure to leak test all gas fittings.

Service code ROL raypak pool heaters p-r-266a-en-c

This indicates the flame roll out safety switch is bad. This part is usually mounted right above the burner tray. It is a white ceramic piece with two wiring terminals and an external part that looks like a resistor. This part detects flame/heat coming out from the burner tray. When replacing it, be sure to check for blockage at the burner tray, heat exchanger and the flue if vented with duct work. This is a critical safety device so do not bypass it.

Back flare on Raypak pool heater

You will need to pull the burner tray out and clean and blow out the burners. Then you will need to pull the orfaces from the gas manifold and clean each one and blow out the gas line. Then with a mirror you will need to check the fire brick inside the burner box. Then you will need to replace anything that is damaged. Good luck.
