When try to take a picture, my camera says CARD LOCKED. HOW DO i FIX THIS.?

Unlock the card.
On an SD card there is a switch at the side which can be moved to protect the card contents (locked) or permit writing to the card (unlocked). Just move this to the unlocked position.

My digital camera says card write protected. changes many memory cards still the camera says card protected i slide the switch of the mmc up and down the screen still says card protected and i can't take...

Hello ranmer 9960:
First lets try the card in your PC to make sure the card is working. If it is working in the PC then its probable that the camera is not reading the lock switch correctly. Lets try setting the protection lock switch on the card in between the locked and unlocked position. If that doesn't work then we can try putting some electrical tape (because its thicker than cellophane tape) over the lock switch on the card This may help your cameras lock switch reader function correctly. Make the piece of tape wide enough to cover the lock switch on the card but don't cover the copper contacts.
Try these suggestions and if it works then give the thumbs up a click.
If not we can try something else.

"card write protected"

There is a minuscule tab on the side of the card, towards the "handle"-end of the card. Slide this tab to unlock the card and allow write and delete once again.

How can i delete a 'protected'picture?

If only one picture is protected, you could download the others and then format the card in the camera. Also, in almost every camera that has the ability to "protect" an image, it also has the ability to remove that protection. Just go into the playback menu and find something to do with "protect" and follow the directions to cancel the protection.

The camera says protected card and wont let me take pictures . How to take the protected card off?

depending on the type of card you should see a little slide or something that you can move and in one direction it will say lock or something of that sort and if you slide it away from that position that should fix your problem. good luck!

What does write protect mean?

"Write Protect" means that something is locked and your device (camera) cannot "write" to it's storage area.
What type of "storage media" are you using?
For example:  the camera's internal memory, a CompactFlash card, a Memory Stick, an "xD-Picture Card" (micro, mini or regular sized), or a Secure Digital/MultiMediaCard.
[Did you put something  (a small plastic card of some sort) into a slot on the camera before or after turning it on?
Those little cards usually have a tiny button (also called a switch or lever) on them that will move back and forth to lock (write protect) or unlock it. This sounds like the memory card inside your camera is locked or "Write Protected.

To fix this simply take it out, closely examine the memory for the button- the button will be closer to the word "lock" or "protect" and all you need to do is gently slide it in the opposite direction from where it currently is. Put it back into the camera and see if it still says "Write Protect."

Let me know...

Write Protect

I don't know if You have all the literature for Your camera, Olympus usually puts out a short version, and a more detailed one. I am not familar with the 390, suspect some setting is incorrect. Have You tried leaving the batteries out long enough for it to return to defaults? Give it several hours, see what it does.
