Question about Acer Aspire One PC Notebook
One way to adjust/set the default size (to get a larger font size) is through your Control Panel - Display - Settings window, where you can select a larger font.
If you are using a browser (e.g. Internet Explorer), there is way to increase (or decrease) the font size (displayed on the screen) using the "magnification" option at the bottom right corner of the screen. Simply click on the "magnifying glass" and increase/decrease the value, e.g. to 150% .

Hi. For Windows XP, right-click on the desktop and select Display. When the Display dialog box opens click on the Advanced button. When the Advanced settings open select the General tab (normally selected by default) and in the DPI setting box change this to a larger setting.
You may need to experiment before you find a suitable settings
For Windows 7 the procedure is slightly different. Right-click on the desktop and select Personalize. In the bottom left corner of the Personalize screen there should be a Display option. click on the Display option and select one of the available DPI settings or select Set custom text size (DPI) from the left side of the screen and enter a custom size.
Like with XP, you might need to experiment to find the correct setting.

Disable the dreadful "pinch-zoom" of the Snyaptics touch pad.
How it is supposed to be used is at
http://www.synaptics.com/solutions/technology/gestures/touchpad . However, I tried these "gestures" and none of it worked on my touchpad.
On Windows7, one can disable this poor excuse for a feature by going to Control Panel->Hardware and sound->Devices and printers->Mouse->Device Settings->Settings [button half-way down, on the right]->pinch zoom. Then uncheck "enable pinch zoom".
