Question about Psygnosis Metal Fatigue for Windows

Open Question

Hi, I'm trying to play through the game again on my new laptop - core 2 duo 2.2GHz processor, 4GB ram, running windows 7 64 bit home premium edition. I've gotten over the graphics issue, by installing a glide wrapper graphics package (not sure how it works, but it works like a treat), but every time I play, the game crashes after just a few minutes. I can extend the gameplay by setting the affinity to just one processor in the task manager, but it only extends it to about 10 minutes. I was wondering if there was some sort of fix I could use, or a setting I could change to improve it?

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: running metal fatigue in 32 bit vista with a dual core machine?

i have this exact same problem, the in game side bar is glitched to the point of uselessness, making the game unplayable. i also have windows vista on a dual core machine. nothing i have tried works. rocksten, it would be helpful if you clarified what you ment by "reinstall it using winrar". do you mean running the installation file off the cd using the winrar application? how would this help a problem that is aparently vista having issues rendering certain in game graphics?

this appears to be quite a common problem with metal fatigue and vista, ive seen only one claim that the game would run without this issue.

the only valid solution i have come across is to install microsoft virtual pc and use it to run a pre xp copy of windows, as metal fatigue will aparently not run under xp either. i have not tried this but it should work. here is a youtube link with an excelent guide on how to get virtual pc running - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7LZwXCQ71to

this problem is still open, if anyone comes across a better fix please post it. it should be solvable, the game actually runs under vista, just with certain essential UI elements glitched out or invisible.

Why is my computer still lagging even after I close the game

Sounds like there is some process being run that is eating up a lot of your RAM. One thing to check is that you are using a 64-bit install of windows if you are using 32-bit it won't matter that you have 6gb as you can only use 3gb with it. It could be that you are running 32-bit and 7 is taking up about a gb of RAM while the games (even when closing) take up 2gb or so. So you could be maxing your 3gb on 32-bit.

We have tried to run World of Zoo on a Samsung netbook N145 and we get an error of "failed to initialize the rendering engine, the game will now exit" The laptop has an intel graphics card 3150....

Minimum System Requirements
  • Intel Pentium IV processor running at 2 GHz, AMD 64, Core 2 duo 1.6Ghz or equivalent
  • Microsoft Windows XP/Vista
  • 512 MB RAM (1 GB RAM on Vista)
  • 2GB of hard drive space
  • 2X DVD-ROM Drive
  • Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT or ATI Radeon x1600 with at least 64MB of memory (video cards with Pixel Shader version 1.1 or better are required)
  • DirectX 9.0c and above
  • DirectX-compatible display capable of 800x600 resolution in 16-bit color
  • Sound: 16-bit Sound Blaster Compatible
  • Mouse and Keyboard
Your computer does not meet the minimum system requirements. You say you have a 1.66GHz processor and the game requires 2GHz. Also the veideo card is most likely not capable of running the game. Sorry I can't be any more help, I wish I could give you more to go off of.

I want to install win7premium32-bit to my pc

It requires at least 2 gb ram and c2 duo or higher. Be sure you have that min with your pc. next you need windows cd. insert it int drive and press F3 or any key to boot with cd. It's then very simple just do as pc says. In format using type choose NTFS next just proceed as directed and you are done.

Try increasing your RAM to 2GB ... 1GB is barely enough to run the OS, let alone an app or two.
