Try going into call settings, then caller ID readout.

If setting is on Caller ID repeat then you won't hear ring.

Change to caller ID then ring.

If your phone vibrates but will not ring go into your settings and select the option silence phone when layed face down call your phone from another phone and place face down hang up wait a few seconds and flip the phone back over you will hear a short vibrate uncheck that stupid option and your phone will be back to normal. It worked for me. I think this option is a flaw on this phone. (motorola defy)

Sound settings- select Smart profile: face down - put phone face down on a soft surface i.e a bed - call the phone - whilst phone is vibrating, turn the phone face up - done.

Phones are like computers most issues can be solved by turning the phone off for a few minutes and then turning it back on

I have this as well I suspect this is a software fault, I ended up doing a facory reset which brought the ringtone back but erased everything bar some photosand as the Blur account didn't work I permenatly lost everything.
Problem is as soon as I hooked it up to the comuter again to update my phone book via keyboard the ringtone went again- I suspect Mororolla should sort this out !!!

I want a app to block unknown callers

Only advice I have is to set custom ring tones for everyone in your contact list. Then set your main tone as silent. When someone in your contact list calls it will ring with the tone you manually set for that contact. When someone not in your contacts calls it will be set to silent.

My phone won't ring

Hi,
If you are using Android phone you need to make sure that the ring-tone volume is not muted. Just goto setting and sound and then increase all the volume, sometime even if the phone is not in silent mode it won't ring due to Android sound settings . You can also use the volume rocker key to increase the ring tone volume. Just in case also change the ring-tone as well in case if the ring tone file is corrupt. Now try ringing your phone from another phone and see if that works. If it still doesn't work, just turn off your phone and take the battery out for 10 seconds and put it back. Try ringing it again. If nothing works, there might be problem with your built in speakers. And you need to contact the manufacturer.

It would be better if you could tell your phone make, model and mobile operating system name and version, to help you further.

Cheers!

Ringtones silent

Make sure that you didn't turn your phone to silent. Hold down the # key and see if it say silent or loud, soft, etc.. Make sure that the volume is turned to maximum, by using the top switch on the left hand side of your closed hand set. Make should that you have a ring tone assigned because if not nothing will work. Follow the below instructions

Menu-Settings-Ring Styles-Detail-Calls (Assign a tune)-click OK

This should get your ring tone back

In order to set the ring tone to silent you must turn the volume down to silent or vibrate. Go to phone in menu and check on sounds.

Silent Turn-On

Hi:

Before turning your phone off each time, reduce your phone's volume to 'Silent'. Each time you turn your phone on, the tone will not sound. Once you turn your phone on again, raise the volume again to hear the ring tone. You can also leave the volume in the 'Vibrate' mode, and it will vibrate each time you turn it off or on.

MOTO PEBL MESSAGE AND RING TONE

i think this is what you're going for...Go to SETTINGS, then RING STYLES. Whatever ring style (ie, vibrate, silent, vibe & ring, vibe then ring, loud, soft), underneath is the detail for it, which you can then change (bottom right of screen).

So right now my phone is:
"Style: Vibe & Ring" and underneath that is "Vibe & Ring Detail"
Under the details, you can change your ring tone by scrolling down to the "Calls" option and choose change (bottom right of screen). And to change your message tone, just go to "Messages" and then change (bottom right of screen).

Hope that helps!
