Question about Danby Dehumidifiers

1 Answer

Hi I have a dehumidifier 3 in 1 DPAC120068 it was bought in summer 2008, it started to leak by the bottom a few days ago, it litteraly empties itself all of a sudden and there was half the container only full. I tried to check if it was a hose or something that i could see but the thing is all sealed up. thank you . Isabelle

    Hi

I know about this switch and it was on the correct position, I did phone Danby and some repair company. The 1st question the repair guy asked me is if I had pets ... I have 3 cats; he thinks it just need a good cleaning wich they charge 65 $

I also read ion some forums that it could be because of to much condensation that goes on a tray that is not emptied by any of the pumps (you have to open the 2 little caps at the bottom to empty this) normally it should evaporate but I have 6 aquariums in my living room ; this is why mostly I need a dehumidifier.

for now I run it only when i'm here and I took the tank of and put the direct drain so it can work this way, I putted the hose in a bucket and I constantly watch it to be sure it doesn't overflow, this is why i close it when I leave or night time as well.

I would really like to know how I can open it to clean it to see if it would solve my problem, there has to be a trick or way of opening this thing. Thank you for the link for the manual but I have it and also read it.

    Thank you very much

    Isabelle

Are you using the external tank kit?
There is a horizontal switch to select internal and external tank.
Please make sure it's on the correct position. (see page 5 / fig.37)
====
There are TWO lower drain caps on the bottom rear of this unit.
Make sure they are secure and free from leaks (see page 12 / fig.38)

Why does compressor continue running, even with dehumidifier turned off?

Hello Bernard, thank you for your post!
I see that you are experiencing an issue with the Frigidaire dehumidifier, FAD704DWD, compressor consistently being on. This could be a possible issue with your control panel or sensor. Since it could be any one of these underlying issues I would suggest contacting the manufacturer for further assistance. Hopefully this information is helpful to you. -Matt

Why does my haier dehumidifier leak on bottom

Are you emptying the pan regularly? A dehumidifier takes the moisture out of the air by condensing it into a catch pan usually located at the base of the unit.

The bucket may be installed improperly causing the full bucket indicator to not function. Examine the unit to see if the bucket has a float or other device for detecting when it is full.

Haier 45-pint dehumidifier unit cannot be turned on. It has been running fine last few days.

The first thing that comes to mind, is have you emptied the water collection bucket recently? If so, be sure that the bucket was properly reinstalled and is making contact with the bucket safety removal switch.

If you haven't emptied the bucket in the past few days, it may simply be full and will not start until it's emptied.

Hope this helped you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

Goldstar dehumidifier model DH305Y6 is there an outlet on this model for a hose so can drain into sump pump?

I have a Goldstar dehumidifier, Model DH305Y6. I bought it about 5 years ago at a local Walmart. During the summer I run it in the basement, here in south-central Pa. When it was brand new it worked very well, for about 2 yrs. Then it began turning on & off very irregularly. At first I thought it was the sensor on the front of the coils. So I moved it to the lower left side of the coils, and had the same results. The other day the water heater in the basement developed a leak. About 300 gals. of water covered the floor. After sumping/wet-vac'ing down to a wet carpet, I pulled out the dehumidifier and plugged it in,(the filter was cleaned before put away last summer). It began its on/off cycling again. It runs for about 2-3 mins., then shuts off for about 5-10 mins. So, I took the On/Off switch apart and read the resistance. It read 48k, for the 50k switch. I turned the switch all the way left to all the way right and it went from 48k, down to about 8k. The two wires to the switch were attached to the #2 and #3 poles,(only 3 poles). I did some testing, then removed the wires and re-soldered them to the #1 and #3 poles. I put everything back together, and now it works. It runs constantly, but it works/runs just fine. I need to get the basement dry, so I will let it run until the job is done. In the Spring I will get a new 50k potentiometer,(on/off switch), and see if that works. I will post results if I remember to.

Will run but won't take moisture out of the air

Fedders, the maker of the maytag dehumidifier, went bankrupt and they are not honoring the warranties. call this number and if it is still under warranty, they will send you a prorated check for the remainder of your warranty. 1-866-629-8241. we had two months to go on our warranty and they gave us $14 and change.

Leaking water

It sounds as though the collection pail is not installed correctly, or the hose fitting cap is loose. Make sure that the pail is seated correctly & the cap is tight. Inspect the bottom for rust perforation, too, although this is a long shot. If this fails, then the cold coil may have broken away from it's mount, & is dripping in the wrong place. Inspection with the cover off will reveal any misalignment or broken components. Repair as required.
