I have verified that the ethernet 10/100 on my Dell Dimension 3000 is bad, Can I just replace the connection via a PCI card or do i need a new motherboard? Also wehat is the price point of this fix?

A new motherboard is not needed and you can just buy a PCI card. Here is one that will work great and is cheap: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833166004. If you wanted to get this fixed you would have to go through dell to get a new motherboard which would probably cost an arm and a leg so you are just better off going with the PCI card.

My dell 3100 desktops sound card is not working. it is integrated. i have ran a diagnostic and it states ther is no sound card installed, it used to work.

Hi! If diagnostic stated that there is no sound detected on it then the motherboard should be replace, because it's integrated .If the system is still in warranty call Dell. If not you can buy a PCI sound card and insert it to your motherboard pci slot. That should do the job. Hope that will help you . GOD Bless

I need to install a new ethernet card on my Dell Dimension 9100 computer

Simply, purchase a PCI network card; and install a new one. It's pretty simple and most network cards come with instructions.

No sound on my pc

Go to Control Panel, Sounds and Audio Devices
Ensure that sound card is the default playback and default recording device.
Also, if this is a Dimension 5100, then there is a possibility that the system has a upgrade sound card installed in a PCI expansion slot (Below the video card)
If the system has an expansion card, (Soundblaster) then the integrated on-board audio should be disabled in the BIOS (If integrated is on and an expansion card is installed, you get a conflict and no sound) Normally, if the system has an expansion card, the ports are covered with a black plastic cover. If the BIOS defaults are ever reset, then onboard audio needs to be disabled again.

How to disable on board sound card in dell dimension 8200

At the boot process press key F2 in order to get into the bios settings. Here you will find "Integrated Devices" select this line with the cursor keys (up and down) and press enter (or spacebar).
On the new panel locate the option "sound". It must be marked as ON state. With the cursor keys (left and right) or + / - change the state at OFF. Press escape to exit from this pane, and escape again to exit the bios. At the prompt panel that appears select "save changes and exit" and press enter. Your Dell is going to reboot now with the internal sound card in disabled state.

I have a Dell Dimension 4600, will a PCI Express sound card work in place of the original Sound Blaster 5.1 sound card

Well, the short answer to your question is "No, it won't work". The Dell Dimension 4600 does not have any PCI Express slots in it, therefore you can't install it, and therefore it won't work. But, if you installed a PCI sound card, it would work. The BIOS would recognize the add-on sound card, disable the onboard sound, and your sound will start going through the expansion card instead. Hope this helps.

Modem bad on Dell Dimension 2400, Can it be replaced?

Ethernet port or dial up modem?

If it's the built in ethernet port, all you need to do is purchase a PCI ethernet card, disable the one that's built in in the device manager and you're good to go.

Thanks and please take a moment to give this solution a rating of fixya.
