That generally indicates a hardware issue. You might try to reset the printer. Go to http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/printers_multifunction/photo_all_in_one_inkjet_printers/pixma_mp490#BrochuresAndManuals for the manual

No problem, but don't know if the print goes face side up por down into the printer when faxing

Where you put the paper must be a little icon like a page with lines, if you see this put the paper face up. I am surprise you did not check with a fax recipient to see if they got it (Blank paper or the fax)

I have paper in my lexmark 2600 series printer and its saying that im out of paper. then when i click the paper feed button, the paper goes down a little bit but than it gets jammed and sort of gets...

  1. Remove all paper, and check to make sure there is nothing blocking the paper from being pulled in through the tray.
  2. If there are no obstructions, reinstall the paper and check to make sure it is working.
  3. If it still does not work, a sensor may be failing or may have failed. If this is the case, it would be more reasonable to replace this device than to take it in for repairs.

Clearing cartridge jam

Hi there ok Generally when this happens, something has fallen into the printer, or a piece of paper has been jammed in there.

First step, remove the ink cartridge, and turn the printer upside down and gently shake it, see if anything comes out.

If nothing goes, or you can't hear anything rattling around, get a piece of cardstock paper (60lb or heavier) and gently push this through the printer, to see if it will help push out what might be stuck in there.

And put a little bit oil on the bar with a cloth

Please come back and just gave a vote, it will gave me some satisfaction to know am helping some one so I will keep on helping.

Won't print...sends a message that the papaer is out

Had exactly the same problem. The solution was a piece of scotch tape. Open the small paper tray, and position the paper guide (the rear one, not the side one) so that you can put your paper stack down with a little bit of looseness, then tape it down so it can't slide back and forth anymore. Now put the paper back in. This worked like a charm for me. Turns out the rear guide was a little too loose so that everytime the paper tray got sucked in, it would push the whole paper stack backward and then the rollers couldn't find the top sheet to feed into the printer.

The paper jamed now I get a 41.3 error message and can't solve

Hello,

The error 41.3 is unexpected paper length and was caused by the printer pulling more than one sheet. Now the problem is clearing the paper jam in the paper tray. The only way I have found to get it clear is to put the printer on its back with the paper tray facing straight up. Now push the tray in just a little bit if you can and try to shake it to get the paper to shift to the other end. After a minute or two put the printer back down and try to open the tray. If you can then just put the paper back where it goes in the tray. Be sure the pickup roller is clean, no paper dust and such. then try printing again. If you still can't get the tray out then you will have to dis-assembly the printer to get it clearer. Let me know if this gets you going.

I have an okidata 320t that is loading wierd. The alarm light is on when I put a paper in the top feed the alarm light goes out, but the paper doesn't load untill you push the SEL button and then when you...

1st try the easy stuff is the leaver set as paper feed or tractor feed if that is set correctly then you most likley have a gear problem and they need to be replaced.

open up the printer replace all the gears on the right side and the large gear on the left
they cost about 8 euros each and if it does not park correctly just clean out the bits of paper stuck under the paper load leaver the leaver is small black and bobs up and down if it does not bob up and down it means that there is a bit of paper stopping it. (to do this you have to remove the large black roller that feeds the paper)

Faxing up or down

Look at the hopper. It will almost certainly have a little graphic on it to tell you which way up the document goes.

If it looks like a sheet of paper with lines of writing on, the paper goes in print side up.

If it looks like a sheet of paper with one corner folded over, and lines of writing visible only on the turned over corner, then it goes in print side down.

If you can't find the graphic, then experiment: Take a blank sheet of paper. Write "Up" on one side and "Down" on the other then stick it into the machine so the writing is telling the truth. Most fax machines have a copy mode - use this to see which side of the paper the machine reads (if you can't get it to copy, fax your page to somebody and get them to phone back to tell you which side of the page they've received).

Paper will not feed, some large spring is loose and don't know where it goes

Okay, I figured it out - if you unhinge the paper tray holder and you look at the bottom of it there is a little circular indentation that is where one part of the spring goes. I surperglued it that. Then if you look inside the paper holder you will see another circular type indent that has a tiny little plastic latch at the top of it - it will match up with the one on the paper try holder. I put the superglued spring into the printer and shoved it down with the handle of a comb and a long kitchen knife.

Hope that helps!

You have two issues at same time. 1: your printer may have a jam somewhwere. remove all paper, and open unit cover, and see if you can find any bits of paper jammed, remember they can be minute and will still cause big problems. check thoroughly behind unit too, sometimes it helps to use a torch. When you put paper back in, only place a very thin stack, too much will cause feed problems and jams. Make sure paper rest is correctly installed too, and the paper guides either side are not pressing too tight on paper stack sides, they should sit gently beside in line with it not pressuring it. Also check if roller is even, inside and down back. Flick paper stack in fingers to separate pages and never feed bent dogeared or marked paper into unit, even a tiny little notch in it will catch. Try printing now. The scanner issue can usually be resoved by uninstalling the whole printer and reinstalling it, ensuring a thorough reset. Good luck and post back if no help.
