Question about Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have recently install a Belkin N150 ADSL Router Model F6D4630-4 v2 details: LAN/Wlan MAC 944452DF0187 WAN MAC 944452DF0188 Serial 1204463000467 Pin Code 87683448 I have connected 4 commuters through the router wirelessly, 2 x Vista and 2 x Windows 7, however the XP units will not connect to the internet despite identifying the router and showing 5 reception bars with automatic and a gold star. It seems to connect but then flickers and goes to the auto state, when I go back into properties the pass key number of dots has changed. no matter how mant times i put this in it always reverts back. My network adaptor is an Atheros ar5700eg in an Acer aspie ZG5 netbook. On IPconfig it shows media disconnected although the network card is working properley. I have done ip release, renew, winsock stuff, uninstalled and re-installed the card, rebooted router and a thousand other things to no avail Any advice you can offer on set up from here would be appreciated. It is probably because of XP. Try and download XP drivers for the router but there may not be any available. Win2000 drivers may work.

I have Belkin N150 Rouer. My internet is Time warner. It has no connection between the modern and Belkin router. How can I set up Belkin N150 Router to solve this problem?

f the modem light keeps blinking, it means that the router hasn't been configured yet. Also, rarely, it can be an issue with WAN port/modem port on the router or the ethernet cable connecting the modem to router or finally, modem may not be working as its not applicable in this case(as you said).

1.Connect comp.--(gray port) router (yellow port)--modem
2.On the computer, open the router page by typing 192.168.2.1 in the address bar of browser

NOTE : IF YOUR INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER IS CABLE FOLLOW THE BELOW STEPS

3.Under Internet WAN , SELECT the connection type as Dynamic.->NEXT
4.On the far left column, click on "MAC address" under Internet WAN.
5.Click on clone and apply changes and finally check Internet status
6.If internet status > Not connected, we need to do a network power cycle
7.For this, unplug the power from router, then from modem, then unplug the coaxial cable from cable modem.
8. Wait for 60 sec, then connect the coaxial cable, then connect power to modem, wait for lights on modem to get steady, then finally, plug in the power to router.
Now, you may see proper lights lit on the router.
All my best wishes for a fast internet service through the router.

FOR PPPOE OR DSL CONNECTIONS
1.Under Internet WAN , SELECT the connection type as PPPOE ->NEXT
2.ENTER THE USERNAME & PASSWORD PROVIDED BY YOUR IN INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER
3.CLICK ON APPLY CHANGES

For any advanced help, revert asap!
Thanks and regards,
MILAN

Unable to connect to internet via router.Computer says signal strength is excellent.diagnostic check highlighted DNS problem.I think VIRGIN (my isp) have recently changed their DNS nos. Virgin (my isp)...

If you're using an ADSL connection the details you need are below.

Settings for an ADSL connection through a telephone line.

Open a web browser and log onto your router.

Find Internet Wan > Connection Type.

Set the Router to use PPPoA, type in your User Name and Password in the spaces provided. If you do not have a Service Name or do not know it, leave the Service Name field blank. After you have typed in your information, click "Apply Changes". After you apply the changes, the Internet Status indicator will read "Connected" if your Router is set up properly.

WAN > Connection Type PPPoA
User Name > firstname.name@adsl.virgin.net (or virgin.com or whatever)
Password > *******
Retype Password > *******
VPI/VCI > 0 / 38
Encapsulation > VC MUX
MTU > Leave as Default

Find Internet Wan > DNS.
Select Automatic from ISP
(Virginmedia DNS servers are Primary: 194.168.4.100 Secondary: 194.168.8.100)

Find Lan Setup > Lan Settings
Ensure DHCP Server is set to On

If the details entered are correct the router will show connected and the internet lamp will be green.

Do the configuration on a wired connection.

Trying install belkin n150 router.setup router and cables as setup guide instructs.i run cd but programe will not find connection to router.i played with connections and it showes i use wan miniport...

Try the following:

1. Make sure your PC is connected to the router directly and the LAN ports are lighting up
2. Reset the router
3. Reset the network adapter on your PC (or just restart the PC)

This should ensure that you are connecting on the LAN port.

Using just the VOIP part of a Belkin all in one router??

You will probably need to set it up differently, I do not know the belking router, but normally the VOIP functions only work on the wan port of these routers so you should make the connections as follows:

INET ---> (wan) DLINK (lan) -----> (wan) BELKIN (voip) --> Phone
|--------> Wired Computers
|--- ) ) ) Wi Fi computers

On the DLINK enable DHCP and set a fixed IP for the Belkin router, either by setting the belkin in an IP outside the DHCP pool or setting it from the DHCP server.

This configuration workd well with a DLINK and a Motorola (vonage) router I have.

No connection

Is your physical connection right???
the WAN port should be connected to your modem, and the LAN1 should be connected to your pc.....

if right, but still doesn't connect....
check if the lights of your router is working
the POWER should have a solid light,
the STATUS, WAN, LAN 0r WLAN should be blinking...

if right, but still doesn't connect....
What kind of connection do you have?
is your modem automatically detects your password...?
or you manually type your password to connect to the internet...?

Belkin mimo installation

what you should have purchased was a modem/router and not a seperate router to connect to your modem, but the modem should connect to the cable/adsl port (wan) using the initial RJ45 lan cable, and then a lan cable from one of the 4 ports on the rear to each pc.
