Question about Texas Instruments TI-83 Plus Calculator
I had the same problem, so i took all of the batteries out (including the back-up battery) and then i hit the on button a few times. i then proceeded to reinstall all of the batteries, AAA first, and then the back-up battery after the calculator was already on. it works great now.

Me too! It's been working fine for half a decade. Perhaps it's getting old?

Tips for a great answer:
If you cannot see anything on the screen, you may need to
adjust the graphing TI 84 calculator contrast :
1. To darken the screen, press and release 2nd
key, and then press and hold up-arrow key until the display is sufficiently dark.
2. To lighten the
screen, press and release 2nd key, and then press and hold Down-arrow key until the display is sufficiently light.
