OK, it sounds bad, but you could try the windows system restore process: start programs, accessories, systems tools, system restore. Give that a shot. If that doesn't work, try to create a recovery CD using the program that is preinstalled on your system. Here is a link to the directions on how to do that, and also how to order CD's from the manufacturer.

Note: If you use the phone number and it's still under warranty, HP/Compaq should be able to send them free. If not, it usually costs only $10-$15.

Some programs need a substantial amount of RAM and in case of computers with smaller RAM, they tend to freeze. Either close some of the running programs or increase the RAM capacity. In every likelihood it should work.

How to fix a frozen screne

The cause of the freezing, or locking up, of your computer, is due to some either corrupted or missing files. And more specifically, missing or corrupted registry files. These are the files which tell everything on your how it is suppose to work. Basically, they are configuration files. And if these files get corrupted, or messed up, it can wreck havoc.

Sometimes the registry files end up missing. This can happen when you uninstall software from your computer. The software being uninstalled may remove registry files also associated with another program. There should be a message asking you whether or not you want to delete the files as they are associated with another program. Your best bet is to say NO to this and leave the files. If the files end up missing, then the program which needs them will stall, hang, or freeze the next time it tries to run. But there is a simple way to fix this.

By just running registry scan software on your computer, you can find these problems and fix them right away. It will let you know which files are bad, and will fix them to its original state. And it is this simple step which will show you how to fix your computer freezing.

Whenever I try to open a certain link it freezes my computer. Another link is my IM - freezes too and have to reboot. What can I do to fix the problem?

If you are getting this problem then before accessing the internet you turn your firewall protection off so that it allows you to access the other pages.
If your problem is not solved then scan your PC with a good and updated anti virus so that if there is a virus problem it will be solved.
And then your problem will be fixed.

Please rate me if this solution works for you

Thanks......Have a great time.

Icons freezing after computer starts up

I think your account might be corrupt, and should probably be deleted. I would highly recommend backing up your data to an external hard drive or create a temporary folder on your C drive, then create a new user account through the control panel. Once this is done, log off of the current account, login to the new account. Locate the icon titled My Computer. Right-click the icon and choose Properties. Look for the tab titled Advanced- click it. Midway down under User Profiles there should be a button titled Settings- click it. IN the list that populates with the user accounts (profiles) stored on your machine, highlight the account that you were just previously logged into (the original account that you were experiencing problems with). Once the old account name is selected, choose the button titled delete. Now, you can restart and log back in. This should put you back at a ready state. It will also resolve your problem if spyware was to blame for your inital problems. Let me know.

Cannot use reader 8.0,cannot remove it or install 9.0

oddly enough, you may find that updating the version 8.0 you have to 8.x will then allow you to remove it (or it will work correctly) can you open the reader manually in the programs list? if so open it, then go to help and check for updates. apply the updates. If they work you should be in good shape.

Will not load.

my old computer had a problem like this, i think the only way to fix a problem like this would be to reformat your hard drive and reinstall your operating system, which would delete everything on your hard drive...if you do not want to lose the files on your hard drive, you can hook up the hard drive to a different computer as a secondary drive and take the files you need off of it...then put the drive back in the original computer and reformat...after that just put back the files back on the original computer with a flash drive or an external hard drive...
cant think of another way to solve this
