Question about Toshiba Televison & Video

1 Answer

When TV is inititally turned on the picture is perfect. After a few minutes or more, the picture becomes blurred. On a scale of 1-10 (10 best) the view is about a 6-7. What can I expect? What are the cost estimates? Sometimes when I tap on it, it will work fine for awhile and then go bad again. Very frustrating as we like the picture when it works.

That sounds like the focus is going out of specification due to a dry solder joint or bad connection.
Checking the EHT distribution box for a bad connection could be fruitfull.
Use utmost care as lethal voltages are at this point!
If the picture recovers slowly it could be a tube base problem.
I don't think it will be much other than the Focus voltage is going up and down.

Hi Paul,
Do you get clear OSD. If yes, it is the main board, if not unfortunately it has to be the lcd panel. Good luck.

It can be a result of dry solder joints on the CRT base PCB, the PCB you see on the end of the CRT. Resolder all the joints on that board perfectly and thouroughly and this will be alright. Good luck.

sounds like you have a frame fold-over fault, does banging the tv have any effect (slightly bang the set on the sides), if it does then its more than likely a dry joint, check all around the frame output chip, hope this is of some help to you
