Question about Hobart 24 in. LXIH-3 Built-in Dishwasher

Open Question

I bought a LX30H (ML104354)dishwasher from a restaurant owner to install in my residence. According to the faceplate, it is rated for 120/208 (3W) single phase at 43.6 amps. According to Hobart's specs, it is rated for 120 / 208 (3W) / 60 / 1 * or 240 / 60 / 1. My question has to do with the line voltage rating. If my residential voltage is 240V and the unit is truly only rated for 208V, this would probably burn out the motor, etc. I'm not sure if the specs imply that there are two different versions (208V and 240V) or that the unit will operate at either voltage. Does anyone know?

According to a Hobart tech, the motors are 120V, so it doesn't matter if 208 or 240. The only 208/240 issue is the heating elements which could have a shorter life if rated at 208 but run at 240. Replacement elements rated for 240 can be bought through Hobart.

SOURCE: P1 error code on LX30 Hobart

This is a bad sump temperature probe. The unit will function, but will not heat nor display the wash water temperature.

This is a very easy fix. Order Hobart part number 328994 from your nearest Hobart parts dept.

Turn off and drain the unit. Kill the power to the unit at the circuit breaker. Remove the lower front cover. Locate the screw-in temperature probe at the front of the sump. Unplug the sensor from the wiring harness, remove with a 7/16" open end wrench. Screw in the new probe, using teflon tape of the threads, snuggly. It does not need to be super tight. Plug it into the harness, reinstall the front cover, turn the breaker back on, and start up the unit.

TURN THE BREAKER OFF AS EVEN WITH THE UNIT "OFF" THERE WILL BE 120 VOLTS PRESENT AT THE SUMP HEATER (yellow wires) DUE TO ONLY ONE LEG OF POWER BEING SWITCHED OFF!

SOURCE: This dishwasher is older than most living people

This unit is a dinosaur. The 3-phase converter had to cost twice as much as the unit. Best solution - turn the power off to the 3 phase converter when not in use.

Better best solution - find a newer unit that will be repairable should it need service. Virtually nothing is available for the AM9 series of dishwashers.

Suggestion - talk to a commercial dishwasher chemical provider that leases dishwashers. They may have a surplus unit that they picked up from a customer (that they leased a new machine to) that they may be willing to donate.

What type of detergent is used for a lx30c hobart undercounter dishwasher

What type of detergent is not necessarily important - anything intented for use in commercial dishwashers should be sufficient. A restaurant supply store should have something suitable for you.
Also, in case you don't already know, the LX30C is the non-booster-heater version of the LX30 (LX30H has a booster heater). Without a booster heater, you'll need to use chemical sanitizer. The LX30C should, hopefully, have a sanitizer pump installed to inject chemical sanitizer into the rinsewater stream. Most of these dishwashers also have a detergent pump to inject detergent into the wash tank and rinse aid pump for chemical rinse aid.
If present, these pumps are located in the bottom of the machine. Remove the lower front panel (2 screws) and look for the small, black plastic assemblies with 2 hoses connected to each.
