Question about Cell Phones
Hehe.. that's customer service for ya. In a sales store, the short-sighted employees don't see the money to be made by helping those customers they can't immediately make a commission from.
But that's besides the point.
On most newer computers if you hook it up, you'll hear a connection sound, and on the bottom of your screen it'll tell you it's found new hardware and will be trying to locate the appropriate drivers.
If you're lucky after a couple of minutes it'll tell you it's ready to use. If it doesn't open up a window simple unplug it for a few seconds and then plug it back in. If a window doesn't pop open still, goto MY COMPUTER and see if you don't have a new device in the list now. It'll have a letter just like your other drives.
If you have a storage card in the phone you might try any number of the rather inexpensive card readers on the internet and in stores. I have one that reads like 15 different cards for $10, which is what I generally use instead of messing with the USB cables all the time for different devices I use that have storage cards.
If you decide to go that route you may have to access the images/graphics/media folder in your phone and "copy to card" if the pictures you have are on the phone and not on the storage card. If the phone doesn't have this SD or micro SD or similar card storage, and you HAVE to use a cable, then the above should help.
If it doesn't auto-load the drivers, or it can't find them by itself the computer will ask you where they are. In that case, if you don't have the disc that came with the camera you can usually goto the manufacturers website to download the driver from their "Support" or "Downloads" area. You get that file, run it, and it'll install the driver for you. (Don't forget to reboot after this process and then once you are back up and running, then plug in your camera and see if it doesn't either open a window, or add a drive letter in MY COMPUTER).
