Canon pixmamx700 printer: Message just came on saying "The type of print head is incorrect. Install correct print head" Print head has been installed and working for over a year and a half and was working until the moment the error message came up. Manual says print head may be removed and reinstalled. How do I do that?

Power off for a few seconds.. then power back on. You might also try rebooting the computer, just so that's not messing with you.

If that doesn't do it, and you're comfortable removing the head, power it off, then do that and reseat it.. power back up.

If that doesn't clear it, power it off, remove the head, VERY CAREFULLY clean the connection with basic alcohol with a lint-free cloth. Don't use Q-tips or tissue that would leave behind fibers or residue. Lightly lightly. It's a delicate piece of electronics and very sensitive at that juncture.

If that doesn't work then you may have other issues, as in board problems. Most of the printers out there are economy versions and technical repairs are generally more expensive than just getting a new one. Keep that in mind if you decide to take it to a technician.

Good luck!

My Canon pixmaMX700 is not printing. It suddenly said "the type of print head is incorrect, install correct print head" i unplugged it andtook print head out and reinstalled it and shut off computer

Hate to say it but the Printhead has become electrically faulty. The only remedy for this is replacement of the printhead. If it is still under warantee then get it replaced under that. If it is not then it will probably be cheaper to replace the printer. But you can still get the printheads if you are really attached to the printer.

I think you need to check if the inkjet (print head/ Cartouch) is installed ok on the printer.
& Make sure it is the type supported by your printer.
I hope this was your problem.
