I have a Hunter 44428 Thermostat and even when the switch is in "Normal" mode (for heating), the display says "Emerg". Why does it say that? I even made sure it was definitely in "Normal" and not even...

your unit is likely equipped with an outside temperature sensor that switches the heat pump to emergency heat when the outside temperature is too low for the heat pump to work efficiently. This is common

Flashing number 2 code

Remove batteries.
Insert a paperclip or similar object into the "reset" hole and hold in for 10+ seconds.
Insert new batteries.
This should reset the thermostat to factory settings and clear all programs, and it should work normally afterwards.

If the error occurs again within a month, then call Hunter tech support at 888-830-1326 between 7am - 7pm US Central timezone.

How do I change batteries in a Hunter airconditioner thermostat

You should be able to just pull off the front cover. Look around the wall and there should be guides telling you too either pull the bottom out first or somehting like that. The batteries should be just behind the front cover.

Replacing 2 honeywell thermostats with Hunter.

The hunter uses batteries and a ram chip to "remember" how you set it, the common is not needed with the Hunter. Some thermostats used the 24 volts of the thermostat circuit for powering up displays or for internal functions such as relays etc. Modern stats consume such a small amount of juice it is not typically required these days.

Need instruction page for the Hunter light/fan remote control

There is a battery in the hand held remote and another battery in the receiver which gets tucked into the ceiling mount cover. Remove the ceiling cover and you will see the battery there, usually a 12 volt battery.

The upp/down slide is a dimmer.

In the event that changing the batteries doesn't solve your problems, Hunter makes replacement remote sets, available at Home Depot, lowes, etc and usually around twenty dollars.

Switch a rheem thermostat to a hunter thermostat for heat pump

You can take the front cover off of your programmable thermostat. Unscrew approximately 2 screws that attach the base plate of the thermostat to the wall. Look in the back of the base plate after removing it from the wall to see how the 2 or 3 different colored wires (ex: red, green, black) are hooked up. Make note of this. Remove the wires from the back of the base plate and attach the wires to the same posts that they were connected to on the original base plate you removed. I believe the posts on the back of the base plates are color coded. (Ex: attach green wire to where it says GRN on back of base plate).
Make sure the thermostat that you are replacing and the new thermostat are similiar in shape, otherwise you will have make repairs to cover up a space that may appear around the new thermostat.

Good luck!

My Hunter thermostat that controls both my air conditioner and heating system worked fine for a couple of years. Then the date and time started getting out of whack. I replaced the batteries..problem still...

If the Hunter thermostat is 3 year old or more you will need to replace the thermostat. I have serviced HVAC systems for 20 years and see this problem all the time with hunter thermostats.
