Oh, boy. I usually disable this feature on computers as we install WinZip on everyone. I'll give you a link to another utility, just bear with me for a few minutes.

Go to this page and select download from author's site.
    http://www.majorgeeks.com/WinZip_d525.ht...

Once it is downloaded, install it and take the defaults. Restart Windows and you should be able to right click your file and will have a compress and email with Winzip. It uses the default email program setup in Windows, so if you use hotmail, or gmail, just select compress to archive, it will land in the parent directory of where you are, such as My Documents\My Videos or which ever folder is the one you have the file in or the folder just above it.

Let me know how it goes. And post back using the comment box below or the ask me button in Find Experts. I'm on the second or third page usually.

Step 3
Right click on the selected files to display a drop down menu. Select the 'Add to Archive' option from the drop down list. This will display a WinRAR window menu.
Step 4
Input a name for the compressed files in the Archive name section in the General tab. Ensure that the name is not similar to any other compressed files in the save location.
Step 5
Select the file format of the compressed file after the deciding on the name. File formats can either be RAR or ZIP. There are also other options such as deleting of the original file after the compression, putting authenticity verifications, and putting a recovery record.
Step 6
Click the 'OK' button after completing all the required fields in the menu. The WinRAR application will compress the files and save in the same folder or location as the original files.
Step 7
The WinRAR program can also extract compressed files with a RAR or ZIP format. Select the files that require extraction using the pointer.

Were do.I find the factory marks on my distributor and intake to stab it right, .on my 93 chevy 5.7

I don't know of any factory marks. You have to put the #1 cylinder at TDC of the compression stroke, then drop in the dist. so the rotor points to the #1 spark plug tower on the dist. cap. The rotor will turn slightly as the dist. shaft slides down, so you need to start the dist. with the rotor turned slightly back. When it drops down, the rotor will be pointing directly to the #1 plug wire tower. Repeat until you have it right. Then it will start, and after warmed up, set the timing with a timing light.

TDC (Top Dead Center) of compression stroke: there are two TDC's for each cylinder, the compression TDC, and the exhaust TDC. To find the compression stroke, pull out the #1 spark plug. With your finger over the plug hole to feel pressure, turn the crankshaft over clockwise with a ratchet and socket on the crankshaft pulley. As the piston rises on compression stroke, you will feel pressure on your finger (there is no pressure build-up on the exhaust stroke). As soon as you feel pressure, now just turn the crankshaft further till the piston is at TDC. You can use a straw or pencil in the hole to find the top, or just look at the pointer scale by the crank pulley. The mark or notch on the pulley will be at 0 degrees on the pointer scale, TDC of compression stroke-now drop in the distributor.

Timing

Basic mechnical timing procedure: remove #1 spark plug bring to compression stroke top dead center (check timing mark on crank dampener, line up to 0 deg.) put distributor in block lining up distributor rotor to where #1 wire is on cap when cap is locked in place on distributor. It may not drop all the way down due to distributor shaft has to align with oil pump shaft. Use socket and turn engine until distributor drops in. You may need to keep a little pressure down on it to drop in. Bring back to compression top dead center on #1 and check that rotor now aligns with #1 wire on cap. Fasten with u clamp and bolt. Don't tighten distributor all the way down yet as you may have to move it a little to start vehicle and then set the timing with timing light. Then tighten down bolt and install vacuum line.

ONE FOULED SPARK PLUG

Either worn valve guides, valve guide oil seals on that particular cylinder, or worn piston rings. You need to perform a compression test to find out which one of these it is.

Compression check each cylinder with all plugs removed. Take notes on which cylinder has the weakest compression.

If no compression difference and if all operating within range, then change the valve guide oil seals on problematic cylinder.

If the cylinder shows a significant drop in compression, then drop no more than five or six drops of oil down the plug hole of the problematic cylinder, and perform the compression test again. The oil will temporarily seal any worn piston rings, so the pressure should rise when retesting if the rings are worn. If the pressure remains low, then your valves are not sealing properly and require attention.

Can you tell me the spec,s on 1970 ford 302 timing after disrubtor has been removed

i will try to talk you through this, bring #1 piston up on compression stroke,on compression stroke with #1plug out you will feel it blow while tip of your finger inserted into #1piston cylinder, the rotor button should be pointed at #1cylider at that time.if not,you are 180degrees out reinsert distributor and do again.back the crank up 1/4 degrees before top dead center on compression stroke. drop distributor in, making sure that the oil pump shaft slides down onto shaft easily. no hammering!just slides down with no force!after this it will start, you will need to set the time with a timing light,by adjusting the position of the distributor. after you've found the right time with timing light, then tighten the distributor bolt down. you should be good to go! thank you for choosing fixya.com

Installing distibitor 1997 5.7vortec

with # 1 piston (front piston on drivers side) on tdc compression stroke place distributor in pointing at the front of the drivers front tire as it drops in it should point roughly at the # 1 piston as it rotates clockwise as it drops in , the cam gears have to mesh so dont force it . if it wont drop into place try a small bump of the starter while applying light pressure down on the dist.it should drop into place and then lock it down a bit . get #1 piston back on tdc compression stroke make sure the power wire is off the dist . the big red 1..you dont want it having spark yet. if it goes into place then set your cap and wires back in and time it with timing light .remove vacum hose from vacum can on side of dist and plug the hose off then use timing light and set to what factory says , usually between 4-8 degrees btdc. 1-3-5-7 piston numbers front to back drivers side ///// 2-4-6-8 front to back on pass side firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 and the dist should have #1 pointing at the drivers front corner of engine. start # 1 plug wire there and work clockwise next spot clockwise on dist is #8 plug wire and so on.. good luck

Can't set the timing on 85 2.5 litre Fiero. The car was cranked after distrubutor removed

You need to get the crankshaft into the number one cylinder top-dead-center compression (both valves closed) position. The crankshaft goes around twice as fast (twice as many times) as the camshaft and the camshaft turns the distributor. You need to turn the crank with a wrench. Loosen #1 spark plug, take the others out. Watch the timing marks on the front pulley. One time it will come up and not be on compression stroke. Another time you will hear air hiss out around the spark plug. This is the compression stroke. They alternate, compression - exhaust- compression - exhaust. Stop at 0 on the front pulley timing marks when it hisses. Now the rotor in the distributor needs to be pointing to number one spark plug wire. If the oil pump is driven by the bottom end of the distributor, most are, the drive needs to be aligned so they will mesh together. Now comes the tricky part, because of the shape of the distributor drive gears the distributor rotates as the gears mesh. Set the rotor where it needs to be, drop in into the hole and watch which way it turns and how much. Pull the distributor back up and adjust the rotor the opposite way that amount to compensate. Now drop it in again. Now it should be where you want it to be. The oil pump drive probably isn't meshed. Crank the engine around by hand while pressing down gently on the distributor. The distributor will drop the rest of the way in when the oil pump drive aligns with the distributor. Now crank the engine around again and verify that the rotor is in the right place when the crank comes up on TDC compression. If it isn't pull the distrib. up and adjust and repeat the steps to mesh the oil pump drive. Once you get it where you want it, put the hold down on, the cap on and try it out. If you can't turn it far enough to get the timing where it needs to be adjust the gear mesh again.

How do Install a distributor on 1994 Chevrolet caprice

to instal the distributor you need to have number one cylinder on top dead center . on compression stroke. Then when you put the distributor in. and you need the rotor pointing at number one spark plug wire.. Drop it in and it will turn it might turn too much when you drop it so pull it back up and drop it in back a notch till it drops in pointing at number one spark plug wire on the distributo cap.. .. sometimes they wont drop in all the way so you have to hold down on it till someone turns the engine over to make it drop on down about 1/2 inch more. I guess first thing you should do is follow number one spark plug wire to the distributor and mark it down below the cap on the metal part of the distributor.. number one cylinder on a chevrolet is if your standing in front of the car with the hood open its the first one on your right. say holler if you have more...
