Master Mechanic garage door opener has lost it's range. Only works when remote is very close to garage door. I have replaced the batteries in the remotes, reprogrammed the remotes and disconnected the motor unit from power. I also have tried moving and extending the antenna wire with no luck. Any other suggestions ??? Thank you.

Garage door opener remote does'nt work when the garage door is shut

Probably you have a weak battery in your remote transmitter. When the garage door is closed it requires a stronger signal. Open the remote and replace the battery.

ANY TIME YOU CHANGE THE BATTERY IN A REMOTE IT NEEDS TO BE REPROGRAMED.

ON THE CIRCUIT BOARD YOU WILL FINS A SQUARE BUTTON.
PRESS AND RELEASE NOW HOLD DOWN THE BUTTON ON THE REMOTE FOR ABOUT 20 SECONDS. WHEN YOU PRESS THE REMOTE THE NEXT TIME THE DOOR SHOULD OPEN.

If your remaining remote(s) have normal range then it is your keypad that is going bad. When one of the units start loosing range it is common for the door to cut down even further on the signal strength.

My Craftsman remote won't close my garage door

If the remote opens and closes while inside the garage but not outside , there are a few things it could be. Assuming it was working fine before..
1. weak battery in remote.
2. remote itself could be bad. (unless you have more than 1 remote acting the same)
3. Logic board in opener is going bad causing limited range. Is the wire that hangs down from the opener straightened out? That is your remote antenna. Some people have coiled or even cut it off..reducing range.
4. Less likely but this can happen- interference from another electronic device, wireless routers, cell phone, new appliances etc.. can reduce remote range. Any new electronics recently purchased?

Wireless keypad closes door but won't open door. Just started this about a week ago. I replaced battery, still no luck. Car remotes work fine.

You keypad has lost signal strength. It has enough to work when the door is open but not enough to penetrate the door. A replacement is needed.

Remote Control closes garage door but does not open

It sounds like a case of your keypad losing signal strength enough that it cannot transmit through the closed door. If a new battery doesn't do the job a new keypad will.

Our remotes do not work when the garage door is closed, but they do work to shut the garage door when it is open. help

There are two possibilities here. One is the remotes batteries are weak and need to be replaced. The other is the receiver is going bad. If new batteries don't increase the range of the remotes then you will need to replace the logic board.
