We have a vented kenmore range hood that is vented thru a pipe (out the top of the hood) to the outside of the house; air comes out the top of the hood and blows into the kitchen. why is air blowing out into the kitchen?

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

you may have a clog, in the vent pipe, not uncommon in the winter for wild things to build nest..
their is also a air damper plate, that might be stuck, this damper prevents outside air from blowing back in

I would like to put my cook top on an island in the centre of my kitchen how would i vent down thru a crawl space???

Get a downdraft cook top and drill a hole. Then run the piping to the outside wall of the house and drill again and run the piping thru to the outside. They make outside wall vents like dryer vents only bigger to accommodate the bigger vent pipe. Happy crawling. It will look and work great if you get a good stove. Do your research.

Sounds like a venting problem at the house pipe.
Make sure the house venting pipe is completely clean and vent hood just outside is free of any blockages.
If all that is cleaned I would check all working thermostats and high limit thermostat as well.
GOOD LUCK!

Kitchen hood not venting outside

check to see if the dapper is opening. that is piece of metal in the flue that keep the air from the outside coming in or check if there is something plugging the top part of the flue on the roof. plus you can go roof and look down and see if there is anything blocking it.

Yes the ductless fan will work for you. I have that setup here at my house. Just make sure that you have a charcoal filter installed in the microwave where the air comes out on top. If it is already vent less the filter is probably already there.

Am buying a Bosch cooker hood - does it come with filters?

filters required only if you are venting inside your house (ie recirculating the air), if it is going outside, then you don't need them.
