What is your operating system. If you upgrade your operating system to windows 7, your driver will be outdated and needs driver compatible with your windows 7.

Driver for camera no longer works

Hi Veronica,

It shouldn't be necessary to install the camera driver, unless your PC is running Windows 98. The camera should just work if you plug it in.

The CD includes two other pieces of software: Roxio Photosuite SE and iSee Media Photovista. None of these are really necessary for typical everyday use, and they can be replaced by free alternatives such as Picasa (easy), Paint.Net (easy), or GIMP (advanced).

PS:
The Windows 98 drivers can be downloaded here.

Ive got a agfa dc-1030 digital camera,and got a 2.0gb sandisk memory card,it was working fine,then suddenly now it says card error when i turn it on,could you tell me why its doig that?

Did you ever format the card in the camera before you tried to use it? This is necessary to optimize the card for the camera. This will erase the card so download any pics first using a card reader if necessary.

Is it necessary to use Kodak AA alkaline batteries in the camera or will other AA alkalines work?

Hi,
Other battery will work in your camera as long as it is AA alkaline.
You can also use rechargeable battery with different brand.

I have a canon digital rebel xt with a speedlite 200e flash. The flash is not working in full auto mode, although the built in flash is. I have replaced the batteries in the flash and the ready light comes...

In auto mode, the flash works only if it is necessary. You are saying that the flsah doesn't work in auto mode, and I assume that in other modes it's working properly. That means there is nothing wrong with the flash. So don't worry about the flash, it will fire in necessary, in full auto mode.

My camera doesn't work even with new batteries

Hi and welcome to FixY,

Initially:
  • clean the battery contacts of the camera using Q-tips and/or cotton buds dipped in alcohol;
  • depending on the length of time in service, these contacts may have developed a resistive film over itself. It may be necessary to scrape this off the contacts to expose fresh metal;
  • in some instances, it may even be necessary to slightly bend / stretched the battery contact so as to afford them more pressure to the batteries.
Should none of the above be corrective, then it would most liekly be an internal electronic fault.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

Film advance

In most film cameras, a battery is not necessary to manual advance film using the lever. Your Canon AV-1 is no exception. I have owned two cameras from the same group, the AE-1 and the Canon A-1. Neither required a battery for manual film advance.

Make sure the ring around the shutter release button is set to "A", otherwise the shutter won't release and the film lever won't work correctly. If the ring shows an "L", the shutter release is locked.

Here's a graphic of the batteries that can be used in your AV-1:

What program are you using? My camera works fine with Windows Messenger. Worse case scenario go to the canon website to download the necessary files.
