You rotate the drum rollers looking for an eliptical outer surface rubber of the rollers. Also make sure the rollers do not teeter fore and aft on the roller shaft.
Next grab the idler pulley for the belt and see if there is any play in the ldler.
Worn drum felts / gaskets or a front bearing glide can also contribute to the problem

See this link for parts:
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=47834&diagram_id=28471897#d28471897

Item numbers you need to check are
6, (unusual wear)
14, drum gaskets {2 ea front and rear} (torn, worn or folded)
18. Just replace the belt if your into it this deep..... especially if the dryer is +5 years old
23, (roller Shaft for wear)
24, roller for wear center and outside surfaces
30. Drum glides (Kit)

A rumble is usually associated with a bad fan blade...as in the center of the fan blade hub is cracked or broken. Check the fan for play.. also hold the motor drive pulley and see if the fan rotates on the motor shaft. It should NOT rotate without turning the drive pulley
A squeal is associated with the belt or idler pulley
A thump is a drum/felt/roller/glide problem.

Our Whirlpool gas WGD5300 gas dryer makes a loud rumbling noise toward the end of the cycle or if there is a light load. The rollers and drum has already been replaced. The unit is only 18 months old. ...

Hi amymaundrell...

I think that your repairman missed replacing one of the drum rollers, or one of them was faulty, because that is the only thing that can make a loud rumbling noise as you describe...take the dryer back apart and check the rollers and also run the motor without the drum attached to check to see if the motor is the culprit.
I will include a link to the webpage for a parts breakdown and parts ordering is possible.
If the rollers look good, take them off anyway and clean and lube the rollers inside and also lube the shafts with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil or a light lube like vasoline. This will help the rollers in the future from making squeeling noises from metal to metal contact.

Loud rumble sound when running. all other functions are good. checked the belt and it is fine.

drum rollers, drum glides or belt idler assembly, all these items can be found on eBay. Since you have had the dryer apart all you have to do is remove the belt and the rollers are on the back. note the routing of the belt, the idler assemblage is next to the motor. this website shows the rollers/glides, hope this helped Tim:

Drum vibrates unit and makes a rumbling noise

sounds like the blower wheel is bad.the blower wheel is behind the duct that the lint filter slides into, when the wheel goes it makes a rumbling sound, also you could have worn glides that the drum rides on or a bad roller, you need to get in there and look but i'm sure it's worth repairing

How do i repair my maytag from squeeking

remove the front exterior panel. The seal around the drum must be clean and have no crease. If so the seal will produce a sqeek. Also the belt around the drum must be tight and the roller bearing on the belt tensioner must turn freely. If the roller is out of round the drum will rumble and if the bearing is dry or jambed the dryer will sqeek as well

Loud rumble sound, Vent hose vibration

That model of neptune dryer had a problem with the blower housings cracking. When the housing cracks, it binds forward into the blower wheel making a loud "rumble" noise and vibration. If you open the door and manually turn the drum and you hear a rubbing noise and feel alot of resistance, then you have a cracked blower housing and need to replace it. It is not an easy job to replace, so if your not familiar with dryers, you should have a technician replace it. Let me know if you have any further questions. shane

Loud rumbling noise with slight vibration

Normally the noise you hear is caused by the drum rollers having flat spots on them or needing lubricant.
If this is what is wrong It will make a kind of thumping noise.
When they need lubricant they will normally make a squealing noise also. You would lube the shaft and bearing area of the roller, using a good machine oil...something like "3 in One" oil.

LG DLE7177WM began making loud RuMbLiNg sound.

I have the same problem; pulled it apart and discovered the drum was cracked at the seam where it was welded. the noise occurs as it passes over the wheels the drum rests on. called LG's Cusomer Diservice and nobody was interested. found the same problems by others while searching myself so its clearly a manufacturing problem.

York P3HU Gas furnace blower making grinding noise and vibration

If the wheel is rubbing on the housing obviously that's no good. Yes that is one solid piece, it needs replaced. Not an extremely difficult job, toughest part likely getting the wheel off the shaft. Sand exposed shaft and use some lubricant. Before removing motor mark on the housing where the wires are located/ direction they point. Do not forget to tighten set screw upon reassembly. Good Luck!!
