Question about Thermador SC302T Electric Double Oven

2 Answers

Hello: We have a Thermador SC302TS double oven. When turning on the top oven, it will preheat to about 320 degrees, and then start cooling off. There are no messages from the panel, and the bottom oven works fine. The top heating element works, but the bottom element does not. I pulled out and disconnected the bottom element to test for connectivity. The bottom element does conduct. That indicates to me (perhaps I'm wrong) that the heating element is OK, and something else is broken. Any clues on how to proceed? -Andy

    Thanks for your answer.

I don't think it can be a control knob (there aren't any), or a thermostat problem (it does appear to read the preheating temp, goes up, and back down, and reads high temps when on broil.

My hope was to track down the source of the problem, rather than list the possible issues.

Thanks Daniel. Further experimenting shows that the convection oven works perfectly (which seems to imply that the temp sensor and door switch are fine. In your opinion, that would mean that I should replace the electronic control?

Hi

The issue can either be a bad electronic control/clock assembly or the oven temperature sensor (probe) has gone bad. To solve this issue start by checking the oven temp. sensor for 1100 ohms, if the rating is more then that then check the control and door switch and replace the part that is bad. Hope this helps...

Oven works fine but the top one wont preheat so it can be the sensor not the control, thats the reason I wanted you to check it before replacing.

    Hi

If sensor seems to be fine then its the control board or the wiriing to the control board.I would suggest you to use multimeter and check the wiring to the control board. Also, make sure thst the relay on the control board are not burnt. Replace the control board if wirng connections looks Ok. Hope this helps... Please post back if you need more information.

I am getting an F64 on my thermador electric double wall oven after a few minutes of preheating my upper oven, and the oven turns off. What des this mean?

Hi, i found out from Thermador customer service that error code F64 means that the lower fan switch (located inside the bottom trim on the right side) is not being detected as closed. In my case, this was because the header (P4) on the Display panel had broken loose from the PC board and was no longer making contact. P4 is where the lower fan switch wires connect to the control boards (actually the display panel).

My thermador double oven does not turn off for 30 minutes.

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

Please clarify if I`ve misunderstood what you`re asking, but with all Thermador ranges and wall ovens ( including your SC302T model, most brands in fact ) the cooling fans will remain on for quite some time after actually shutting the oven off.

This is done by design to keep the electronics cooled to a temperature usually below 200°F so they aren`t damaged.

Heat after all is the thing which damages electronics more than anything else.

I do have use and care guides available via email attachments in "pdf" if you need one.

Thank you for choosing FixYa. I hope this eases your concern. Please let me know.

Regards,

Macmarkus :)

Error F5 comes on when trying to bake

Ok, this is a control fault that may or may not be solved by initiating a hard reset. To initiate this reset, you will have to unplug the entire oven for 3 total Min's. it is vital that you allow three total Min's before you power up once more. if you cant reach the actual plug, you can shut of the appropriate circuit breaker as well for three total Min's. Once the hard reset has been initiated, power the oven up once more. If the same problem still exists, you will have to replace the Electronic Oven Control Board.

Please rate and god bless:)
