Question about Air Hogs Havoc Heli Helicopters

Open Question

My air hog havoc heli will not charge. The green light comes on and then goes off about 30 seconds to a minute later. When I turn it on the red LED light in the heli blinks about three times and then turns off. Its like its not getting the full charge that it needs to fly. It has enouch juice to get about 2 inches of vertical and then just turns off. I put brand new batteries in the transmitter and it still won't work...

SOURCE: Air Hogs Micro Havoc Heli spins wildly

The tail rotor on a helicopter is what controls the spin.

SOURCE: Main rotor does not spin on brand new Air Hogs Havoc Stinger heli

After having the same problem I got through on the phone to spinmaster this morning (it only took about five minutes). They said the problem is likely that either the gears have slipped or the shaft has disconnected from the gears and motor. They said the problem cannot be fixed by the user and the solution is to get a warranty replacement.

After opening a warrant case and giving me a case number (important!), the customer service rep asked me to email a copy of my receipt along with a picture of the helicopter with the main rotor cut off (to show that we weren't using it any longer) to their warranty department along with the case number and a description of the problem. She said they would ship out a replacement within two to six weeks. Hopefully this works. Good luck.

SOURCE: My Havoc Heli got wet

must be off, air dry, or in a warm place for a few days. then fully might have damaged the battery by getting it wet, if so the only choice is replace the battery.usually dried and charged is enough though.the lights require less power to run than the motor, thats why they continue to work even though the motor doesn't. Also make sure the battery is really for the lights on the charger (controller) to cycle, new batteries in the charger take about 15 min. to give a good charge.Good luck!

Found a previously posted solution here:

1.Take out charging wires. 2.turn off your heli and insert charging socket into your heli's socket. 3.the charging green light will light up while charging. 4.charging complete, the green light will turn off. 5.pull out the wires and you are ready to fly. We broke the stabilizer of our air hog havoc heli. Where can we get replacement part?

I replaced a broken stabilizer successfully with a regular paper staple (like the kind in a red Swingline stapler). It's the right length! I punched the staple through the stapler to bend the ends, rounded them a bit with needle-nose pliers to fit over the stabilizer pegs, then used the pliers to tighten the loops. (I got a couple of Air Hogs recently at a garage sale, but one was missing a stabilizer. Excited that it works now!)

Air hog havoc goes up and down just fine, no steering control

The steering control only makes the copter rotate.

But if the heli is properly balanced a right turn should get you some forward motion. A left turn should just make it spin back to the left.

Adding weight to the front of the copter will give it continuous forward motion. Then you will lose the ability to hover.

If you visit the Air Hogs website (, select "need help" and then Havoc Heli, then crash course, the video will show you how it works.

I also find that climbing makes the heli spin left and descending makes it spin right. So full right for initial startup, then a little right when climbing, and a little left when descending helps to smooth things out.

Keep in mind that this is a very small and cheap helicopter. It took me a while to get used to flying in circles to the right but with practice I have been able to get it to go somewhat where I want it to. I can take off and land from the coffee table without crashing.

Havoc heli will not charge

As far as the green light on the charger not coming on: after I tested the batteries in the remote, I found that it was due to 2 of the 6 batteries in the remote control being dead (0.1volts) The charger probably sucks the power out of the #1 and #6 battery.

Make sure all batteries in the Remote have the same charge.

Also, there seems to be a loose contact in the charger plug prongs. You will have to find a way to sit the helicopter so that it stays in contact with the prongs while charging. Mine has to be on it's side to keep the green charger light on.

Good luck!
