Question about Lowrance LMS-337CDF GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Lowrance LMS 337

Bought in 2006. Had a problem with the module... sent back to manufacturer for warranty and was replaced... new one worked for remainder of 2007 boating season and for one week in May 2008. In July unit functioned then "position lost" turned unit off and checked all power and module connections.. turned unit back on and got "module not responding" Unit has not worked since. Love the unit when it works but so far it has not been reliable. Any help would be very much appreciated Les Marston Edmonton Ab. 780-446-5780

I wonder if the module has failed again, have you tried reseting the device?

I'm looking into this but I suspect that repairs are required again.

You must power your gps antenna seperate and have the 120 Ohm terminators on both sides of the network for your setup to work properly, here is a neat little self help guide from lowrance: http://www.lowrance.com/LowranceNet/LowranceNet.asp
Go down to the bottom and click on LowranceNet Designer and just follow the instructions and drag and drop what products you have.

My Lowrance Lms 240 comes up gps module not responding any ideas!

http://www.lowrance.com/Downloads/Manuals/ try this site. Also nor being real familiar with these units since i have no use for a water unit, i am going to suggest that it may be the transducer or the cable linking it to your gps unit. That's the only idea i have and if it's right , would you let me know, or let me know either way, since information like this helps me learn what and where i went wrong. Thanks

i've repaird this by installing a secondary powerswitch and disconnecting the power switch on the keypad. It's an involved repair but it can be done.

Hi,when i switch on my lms-332c the map does not come up on the screen. If I remove and replace the map card it works perfectly. Can I fix this? regards nigel

I am guessing that the card you are using is a NAVIONICS chart? There have been some Lowrance units that were made around the same time that have had problems recognizing a Navionics chart right from power up.

Make sure the LMS-332 has the latest firmware version which can be downloaded from http://www.lowrance.com/en/Products/Marine/Full-Size-SonarGPS-Chartplotter-Combos/LMS-332C/Downloads/LMS-332C-Software-Update/

If the update doesn't help, this is going to be a compatibility problem with the LMS-332 and that particular card. You will need to replace the card or upgrade to a newer unit...but probably can just get used to removing and replacing the card when you turn the unit on.

GPS Module not responding

i just got it back from Lowrance and they replaced antenna and it works, but for how long is anybody's guess. The technician at Lowrance told me the antenna should be at least 3 feet from base unit and he thinks that is problem, because mine is only 2 feet. Why doesn't it say that in manual, if true and why doesn't MarineMax install it properly. MarineMax just gave up trying to help me, even though it was under their warranty. They just care about the sale and their installation was shoddy at best with wires hangiing all over the place. I decided to take care of it myself, so we will see.

Keeps blowing fuses

It has a short in the wiring which is "not user fixable". I think the wires are crossed. Take it back, they need to repair or replace it. I suggest you replace it. Take the GPS with you show you can show them the problem. If you bought this on line call Lowrance and find the nearest repair center. Repair it yourself and you loose the warentee.
