It sounds like the magnetron may have either failed or is not being supplied with the extremely high voltage required to run it.
Make sure the !!!!capacitor is discharged!!!!! before attempting any sort of repair.
Check the door interlock switches first then the high voltage diode with either an AVO model 8 on high resistance range for short circuit, the capacitor can fail and go short circuit, the feed fuse on the primary of the high voltage transformer and then finally, the magnetron is best checked by substitution.
Hope that helps.

Microwave oven: GE Spacemaker 1400 not heating. Model number JVM1430AB001. Need guidance on troubleshooting and repair of unit. Thanks!

If the oven is making a loud buzzing noise when you try to warm food and the food remains cold, it usually means that the magnetron has failed. Not usually worth fixing since the parts alone can cause as much as a new oven.

Unit does not heat food. the light and rotating plate work but food is not heating.

It could be a faulty magnetron, which is responsible to warm up the food. If that is the case, then the cost price of that part is quite expensive and you are better off replacing the whole unit rather than spending money on buying the parts.Hope this helps.

Hey Thanks!! I tried to warm food in the microwave and the microwave started to make a strong humming noise, didn't warm the food and has an strong electrical burnt smell. -What's wrong?

The unit had a meltdown. Anytime you smell something thats not normal its alway an internal failure. You could send it out to be looked at but at the price to replace it your better of getting a new one.

The unit is failing. Probably the megatron tube. IT can pass quickly or slowly. I had a Sharp that lasted about a month before conking out on me at a most in opportune time: Dinner for 8 and it was late! Take caution. Start shopping.

My lg microwave is not functioning, the light is on and the glass dish rotates, but food is not warmed

Possibly a dead Magnatron which is the heart of the unit. repair often exceeds the purchase of a refurbished unit.

Won't warm food

Typically, no heating of food, indicates a bad Magnetron (tube) or associated components. Yes, it can be repaired. Magnetrons are not hard to replace and can be ordered online through MCM electronics. Please let me know if I can be of further assistance to you.

Good Luck,

- Jim
