When you have a high speed device like the ipod plugged into a non high speed usb hub, all that means is that it will take the ipod about twenty times longer to load up under itunes then it will using a high speed port. Try connecting the ipod to a different usb port and see if that one is a high speed port (if it is, it will most likely have 2.0 written beside it, and if it does not have it, when you plug it in, it will tell you if it is a non high speed usb port. The same message should pop up. Try all of the usb ports on your computer. You should have at least 1 high speed port.
For it to recongnize, maybe try: 1: go to control panel 2:add hardware 3:connect your hardware device and click "yes i have connected the hardware" 4:scroll down and select install new hardware device 5:select install hardware that i manually select from a list 6:scroll down to windows portable devices 7:and choose MTP device this should make it so your ipod is now recognised by the computer ---John

corrupted and i needs to restore it. click ok and then wait for it to
complete the restore.
PC: go to start, my computer. in the

Your ipod has to be plugging into a high speed usb port, that's your problem. Don't use the usb ports on front of your computer, use the one's in the back. Those are typically high speed. If you have an older computer, you might not have high speed usb ports and you'll need to purchase an pci usb 2.0 adapter.
Once you get it connected to the computer and you sync with your library it will remove any songs that were previously on the ipod.
