Question about Hasbro Nerf N-Strike Stampede ECS Blaster

1 Answer

Stampede ECS won't fire the darts. It sounds as if it is firing, however, the darts just stay in the chamber. The spring mechanism is moving and the batteries are new.

I had this same problem. Well, actually after I modded it. I hope you are good with your hands, because this takes effort.

Unscrew the casing and open the gun (remember to take the battery pack out and have the two plates together so that the wire connecting them doesn't break).

When you see the plating covering the plunger (spring) system take it off, it has about 5 screws.

Since this is extrememly hard to explain in words, look at an internet picture of the internal plunger system. The way it works is that when the spring/tube goes forward (as the motor operates) the 'plunder' (the white thing) stays back. As the orange tube goes forward it triggers and release mechanism that fires the plunger forward due to spring pressure, compressing the air, therefore firing the bullet.

All you have to do (which is what I did) is insert a clip (with the plates open), make sure the jam door is closed, and put the battery pack in (to complete the circuit). Do a bunch of test runs to make sure the white plunger is shooting forward as the mechanism operates.

This will all make sense once you activate the gun without base plates.

Email me at dluzzio@gmail.com if you complete it, have questions and/or comments.

I hope it helped!

PS- while you're at it, you might as well look for online instructions on how to mod the air restrictor (as I am too lazy to write a few more paragraphs!).

What causes the nail gun not to fire

Your question isn't specific enough. Multiple things need to work together to fire a gas fired nail gun;
First the obvious user faults;
Low battery
Low gas
Nail guide jam

Not so obvious;
Broken/worn return springs (nail guide and firing bolt)
Faulty micro switches
Bent or impacted internal mechanism
Fan fault
Ignition or spark fault
Dirty or damaged ignition chamber (just like a car piston, cylinder and rings)
Faulty micro controller and ignition circuitry

My stampede got wet and will not fire. how do i fix it? can i fix it?

Let it dry in a hot place for a couple of days and try it again. Hopefully at this point you have not fried any crucial components, otherwise you will just have to buy a new one.

Nail gun will not fire a nail each time but only fires correctly ever other time and leaves dimple from the head firing.

Here are a few tests for you to try. You will need a piece of rubber or coiled up old hose.
First open side door and remove nails. Tilt gun head down then up again to check if piston is loose in the cylinder. The piston should stay in top position. If piston drops to bottom of cylinder remove head and replace piston oring or apply some layers of teflon tape under oring to expand oring slightly untill piston stays at top but still can be pushed down cylinder (look at the lower bumper to make sure that it is not cracked or missing pieces, if it is breaking up the pieces can lodge within the air path to the feeded piston). If driver piston now stays at top, connect air to gun and with side door open contact gun to rubber firing gun noticing the feeder movement. With very rapid firing of the gun, the feeder should move back and fourth just as fast as the driver moves. If the feeder seems to move slower than the driver moves then check/replace spring in feeder piston chamber. If spring seems strong enough in your opinion then problem is restriction in the air supply to feeder, if air path is clear then replace orings to feed piston. You will need to remove the two 6m allen screws at front of gun and split gun apart to check restriction at the oring sealing these two parts. Sometimes debris traped at oring (white oring) will restrict air to feeder. Good luck.

Bostitch RN46-1 roof nailer won't advance nails into the piston chamber. After loading the nail coil, the first nail fires fine, but the next won't advance. Please help. Thanks!

check the height of the magazine, but I think that you have a problem with the feed piston or there is a spring on the feed pawl that might be broke. Unload the nails and dry fire the tool with the door open observing the piston movement. It should "SNAP" back and forth if it does unplug the air and check to see if the spring that applies pressure to the pawl is broken or missing. I am going to guess the piston. If this tool has not been serviced in a while the asphalt tends to jam up the mechanisms. Let me know if you need more assistance.

It has stopped "cocking" so

I thought mine stopped cocking, but it is actually the trigger that has cracked and is no longer disengaging the locking mechanism which frees the spring allowing it to force the dart out. It seems to be a bad design as the plastic used for the trigger is either too flimsy or too thin at that point. I haven't found replacement triggers yet.

I just got my new nerf stampede and put batteries in. I turn it on it fires 4 darts and then just stops. there is no sign of jamming

There are multiple factors in the inconsistency of your product's functioning.

1.) You have not successfully screwed in the battery cartridge tight enough so as the metal conductors are touching (with pressure).

2.) Your batteries are dead or almost dead.

3.) You put 4 bullets in your clip - kidding :)

4.) The circuitry may not be high quality, was your gun tampered with or from an unreliable source?

5.) Your jam door may not be high quality and could often slip from its locking point, I'd suggest taping it momentarily to keep pressure on it just to see if this is the case.

6.) The clip may be loosely in also, I'd also look into that.

If your gun stopped working permanently- I'd suggest looking inside at the white plunger, and the parts that release it from its pressurized position. There are many diagrams on the internet of the internals for it.

I **** it back and then hit the trigger and it won't fire... it rotates the barrel and after about a minute or so of pulling the trigger rapidly it will fire. i want to be able to shoot normally and i did...

The factory must have left out a certain spring I could only explain to you if you've modded it.

Well, I'm going to explain anyway-

When you pull the trigger there is a mechanism is triggers that releases the plunger system, therefore compressing the air and firing the dart out of the turret. The factory (as I said before) left out the spring that makes the part move up or down as the trigger is operated, therefore making the gun malfunction.

My best suggestion- get a spring and add it in (if this is the case). Open up the shells/casing of the gun by unscrewing it apart and find the orange part next to the trigger.

Please email me at dluzzio@gmail.com a picture of the inside of your gun so I can analyze it.

If all else fails, take it back to the store.

Shoots one nail then it stops it fires but no nail

This is a very popular gun, very light and powerful. Skipping nails is not a common problem. Here are a few things to check that would cause the issue. (First remove air hose and nails.) Worn piston oring (piston will be in the down position). Open side door and check that piston is at top. If oring ok, check feed spring under feeder claw. If spring is in place, push feeder in manually. It should be very difficult to move feeder shaft. If it moves easily then spring inside feeder chamber is broken. If ok, connect air to gun, leaving side door open (nails removed) and bump fire gun against hard rubber (or coiled rubber hose ) very rapidly. While bump firing rapidly, look at feeder moving back and forward. It should be moving very quickly keeping up with speed of driver. If it appears to be moving slowly compared to driver there is an air feed restriction to feeder chamber. Check for debris in small air passage to chamber. Remove two allen screws holding nose of gun to body and examine the small white teflon oring between nose and body(part #149885). Sometimes this oring traps dirt and grime or just simply gets pressed so tightly that center hole is restricted. You must use the correct teflon oring here because the nose and body fit so tightly together that a rubber oring will close air path. Good luck.

Paslode framing nailer when fired pin stays out wont retract

Check the anvil guide for damage first (ie: burrs, nicks, etc.) Then go to the chamber for the return spring. That is where your problems are.
